Getting ready to buy

I have test drove a 2015 Camaro and loved it. LS1 model manual transmission, V6. The most basic version but it was great. I am looking for advise on my possible purchase. I live in St. Louis, MO and looking for the best deal. I am also looking for the best way to increase the HP on the V6. I have seen the air intake, headers (short and long), dual exhaust, throttle bodies, intake manifold spacer, mass air sensor, throttle controller, good tune. BY the look of it, spending about $2000.00 on performance upgrades could potentially yield a 50HP gain on the V6.

So i am looking for a lot of advise.
Best dealers in St. Louis to buy
Best options to get for my money at the dealership
Expected price to pay
Recommended performance upgrades that ACTUALLY work.

The more information the better.

Thanks

If you don't even own the car yet and you are planning on adding a pile of mods to increase HP, why not start with an 8 cylinder?

I purchased the V6. That's what fit my need/use. Not saying anything is wrong with the V6 choice. Just think you should think about what you want out of the car. You've pretty much eliminated the warranty on a brand new car with the mods you've listed.

Later,
Brad

Look for a low mile used SS.

Piston. good feedback. I am new to Camaros but the v8 will come with the SS model. That is a base line of $34k compared to $24K for the 1LS. By adding $2k in performance upgrades I only spend an additional $2k vs and additional $10k. Plus I am not sure I want the big V8 maybe just a little faster v6.

Great choice. You can easily increase the horsepower by spending around $2.500 I guess.

When I was 19 I made the mistake of buying a v6 Mustang I used to regret it every single time I would be next to GT it felt like I was driving a fake/bootleg version and I was for about a week before I returned it and got me a GT, American muscle car is not a real muscle car unless it has a V8, you need to see it this way 1 year from now you would be driving a used v6 or you could be driving a used SS. About 2 weeks ago ran into some mechanic from Chevy he has been working 19+ now and I asked him what his thoughts were on the Camaro since I'm going from Ford to Chevy he just said this, "what ever you do don't even think about a v6" not that I was but he then rambled about how bad are v6's since he is always doing warranty work on them and a bunch of other stuff.

I know not everyone has the same money solvency but in this case I would advice to stay away from a v6, money that you save now buying a v6 is money that you will loose if you ever try to sell that.

Well don't buy a new one, for the price you can get a new v6 you can buy a used v8 and with the plan you have spending 2k+- on upgrades it does not make no sense, like someone all ready pointed out you will void any warranty if you do those upgrades just shop for a pre owned 14,15 I'm sure you can run into some good deals and if you ever need to sell it you have a better chance or recovering more money first buyer's loose about 8-10k the first year on a car like that.

You will void the warranty with a tune. Just keep simple mods with a v6. I went with a 1lt because I could afford it new. Yes I want a v8 but didn't want to buy used. It's really up to you on what you want. Either way you will love it and there's always the future to upgrade to a new v8 when you can afford it.

There is nothing wrong with V6 Camaros.
There is nothing wrong with purchasing a new V6.
There is also nothing wrong with picking up a nice low mileage V8.
Get the car that feels right and be proud that you have a Camaro.

Can you wait? I'd say wait for the new one to come out.
