Front isn't a true skinny, but it's skinnier than stock and more sidewall. It's a 225/60 /18 the stock size is 245/45/20. Front rim is now 18x7 if that matters . It actually handles pretty good now I think but i am old .lol. I think we are all spoiled now days on cars in many ways. But that's not a bad thing. If I can make it handle ,ride, or stick better iam all for it. Didn't I used to see you in the gto forums Pete ?

You did.

With a Skinny, 0 front camber offers the least rolling resistance. With a regular, albeit a skinny regular tire, some negative camber and high tire pressure works.

Front
Camber -0.75
Toe 0.00

Rear
Camber 0.00
Toe IN 0.10
Total Rear Toe IN 0.20

Inflate the front tires to maximum pressure.

No sir. Bump the front pressures for the strip only!

Just wondering "out loud" if maybe setting zero rear camber with the rear suspension slightly squatted and the driver's weight at least simulated would show any benefit over setting zero at static ride height and nobody in the car.

Pete - is camber gain at the rear 'fast' enough to show up much on, say, 11" tread width (or possibly wider) rear tires at 1" squat?

Tire wear on occasional track car

Hi all,

I take my car to the road course about 4 or 5 times per summer and have started to notice some unusual tire wear on all 4 of my Michelin PSS tires (photos attached). Is this normal? Is this something I should be worried about? The majority of the tires seem barely worn but the outside edge seems very worn.

I am currently running 20x8.5" wheels up front with 255 width PSS tires and 20x10" with 295 PSS in the rear. I have a set of 1LE wheels that will be going on the car with a 285 square setup once these tires are worn out but I want to get my money's worth out of these first.

I am using the Pfadt "Performance street - Track use with street tires" alignment specs posted towards the start of this thread. I fear that this alignment might be causing the wear described above.

This car is no longer a daily driver (and has not been since before these tires were purchased). I live in the city and primarily use public transit including my commute to work. The car sees very light use on the weekends when the weather is nice (less than 100km). As mentioned above I take it to 4 or 5 track days per summer but this is still a streetcar.

What alignment should I be running?

Thanks!

Suspension mods are as follows:
-Ridetech stage 2 coilovers
-Pfadt adjustable swaybars
-BMR subframe bushings - Delrin
-BMR outer trailing arm bushing
-Spohn Trailing arms (Chrome Moly)
-Spohn Toe Links ( Chrome Moly)
-JDP/Pfadt upper control arm bushings
-Prothane Radius inserts

What do you guys think on specs?

Stock Camaro SS suspension aside from 1'' Hotchkiss springs(going on Friday), 275/40/20 tires on 20x9 wheels all around

Not going to any track events or anything, maybe to the strip a few times. New tires going on Friday, do care about handling but more about tire wear.

Hi James,

The tire wear doesn't look too bad; I've seen much worse. I would probably go with the following setting given your usage and see how it does for you.

Front -1.4-1.6 degrees camber 1/16 toe out - I run a bit more toe-out but this would be a compromise for the street**
Rear -1.0-1.2 degrees camber and 0 toe

I would suggest running around 34 PSI in the tires for the type of event you're running. I would watch the Michelin man on the side of the tire; you basically want to touch his head. I was personally running 32-34 lbs with those tires.

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions. I appreciate your business and support. Have a great day and we'll talk to you soon.

Kind regards,

Jordan Priestley

The stock setting would be fine for your usage and goals. I'd shoot for the following:

Front -0.8 to -1.0 degrees camber 0 to 1/16 toe-in
Rear -0.6 to -0.8 degrees camber 0 to 1/16 toe-in

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions.

Kind regards,

Just installed 305 rear tires, Hotchkis 1" springs, lower control arms, subframe bushing inserts, BMR trailing arms and bushings on my 1LE. Any suggestions for the alignment specs? Thanks to JDP for the parts.

What is your tolerance for tire wear?

I don't care I want maximum cornering or damn those 305's are expenssive I need them to last a long time?

Road course beast, daily driver, drag?

The car is honestly on the streets 70% canyons or track 30%. I love the way this car handles but don't want to burn through tires frequently haha. I would say a semi aggressive street setting. Car is only driven on the weekends but I already have 17k miles.
