Bo White TB require a tune?
First, I had to think about which forum to ask this, but it IS a bolt-on part I have the question about, so I put it here. Forgive me if I am incorrect.
I have a Bo White TB on our L99 car (still haven't had time to put the one on the ZL1 yet) and he said it didn't require a tune. Works great as is but... I am wanting to purchase the SCT X4 tuner from a vendor, but they show an upcharge on the tuner for "ported TB". Have a VaraRam and MRBP catback, and those are "included" with the canned tune, but not sure about the TB part of it. Question- Does doing the canned tune and supplied vendor mail-order tune require the extra $$ part of the tune, or is that option for things like 102 TBs, full-out race ones, etc.??? Anyone do a canned tune without the "TB tune"? Afraid the vendor may say "Of course you do" whether I do or not. I'm looking for an answer from someone that don't have a dog in the hunt. Don't mind spending the extra $$ if needed, but I don't want to waste money, either. Don't care about dyno tuning, headers, cams, or other mods (at least not any time soon). I'm just looking to get it better than it is. Want to get the most out of the canned tune but don't want to pay extra if I don't need it. TIA.

I got my SCT tuner from RDP a month ago. I got a ported TB installed at camarofest and actually emailed RDP asking them if I needed a retune and they said no, which so did the installer at the fest.

The more accurate the tune is the better the results will be, but keep in mind we are blessed with an ECM that can make its own adjustments to a point. Ported throttle bodies do not require tuning to begin with so at the canned tune level there is no need for an some additional voodoo.

Sounds reasonable.
I didn't think I would need to, but didn't want to overlook something and have me wishing later I did. I guess I'll just get the basic tuner package with CAI and catback for now. I just emailed the vendor with that question, along with some other questions, and waiting for the response. Thanks for the feedback.

10% chance you will need a tune for it.
