Why no respect?

Dumb kid rear ends me today, gives me two thumbs up, and drives away. Not much damage to my car, some small scrapes on the rear diffuser. Of course he has no insurance, left the scene of an accident, has limo tint on windows. Several tickets for him, probably around a grand in fines. So I don't expect him to pay for anything. Officer didn't have too high of remarks about him and his attitude. So, do I live with the scratches, replace the diffuser by myself or let the insurance deal with it? It will still be a hit on my insurance, even though I was not at fault in any way, if I make a claim.
Anybody know a good place to get a stock replacement diffuser for cheaper than the dealer?

If someone rear ended me then gave me a thumbs up and then drove away it would take all my will power to not run them down and beat some sense into them. But sorry to hear about it. I would post some pictures before I ask if you should replace it.

Sorry to hear about your loss, it is certainly a terrible means to find out your insurance agent sucks.

a) Uninsured / Underinsured liability - fire your insurance agent immediately, especially if they try and file a comp claim on you, double since you have a hit & run police report.

b) PM Becky@RogersChevrolet here on C5 for OEM replacement parts, if you think you can find it cheaper with better customer service somewhere else.......it doesn't exist, but good luck in your search.

Best of luck in your path to becoming whole again.

Some things are just "WTF?!?" things. The kid who hit you is apparently just dumb, in about 40 ways, from not having insurance to not having the ability to avoid rearending you, and when he was in a situation that required certain NORMAL actions by him, he was just to f'n dumb to know WHAT to do, so he gave you a thumbs up, and rode on. Seriously, dumb is running rampant.

That and posts that make no sense, in Australianish lingo...

How did you and the police find him? Did you get his tag or chase him down. I hate to hear this, but I am curious.

So my wife tells me about this boy, around 5, at the hospital yesteday. My daughter, who is 3, is playing with this other 3 year old girl. Every time the girls pick up a toy, the boy comes and takes it. The boy's dad says nothing. After a couple rounds of this, my wife tells the boy to leave it alone because the girls are playing with it. Boy's dad interjects that they are just being kids, so my wife tells him his kid is misbehaving and the other girls dad tells the dude they call what his boy is doing bullying.

Point of the story is if you could fast forward the boy's life a dozen years, he will be running into the back of people and giving the thumbs up. He will also fail to get educated and blame society that he lives in a leaking single-wide trailer and is on communty service.

Gajag:

I took pics of his car as he was driving away and got his plate #. Called 911 and they dispatched an officer that caught him on the same road.

Once I get all the paperwork, I will file a small claims case against him. Here in Wisconsin, if you have a judgement against you and you don't pay, they will revoke your driver's license. With him running in to me, leaving the scene and not having insurance, I am hoping my claim will be a slam dunk.
