Admittedly, I'm late the 5th gen party, and I'm a V6 guy. I'm one of those "evil people" who is saturating the roadways with a low-HP version of the Camaro and making it "less special." I could care less. I enjoy the car, and I get plenty of compliments about it on a near-daily basis. Strangers come up to me in parking lots and say "nice car" and then tell me about the first-gen Camaro they owned in high school. I sometimes meet other folks who have 5th-gen cars, and I've yet to meet one who is not as proud of their ride as I am of mine.
Are the 5th-gens totally unique? No, I will grant you that, but I still think they are something special. If you don't think your car is show-worthy anymore because the market is saturated, that's fine. If that is something that is truly important to you, then maybe it's time for an upgrade, but I disagree that these are not special cars, and that the community that owns them are not special people.

I think the Gen5 Camaros are the best looking car on the road so yours will probably be special to you but my point was that I don't think they should be in car shows unless it's a GM or Camaro event like Camarofest. I have an R6P Camaro, I had never seen one on the road prior to getting mine. The attention I got was overwhelming and actually got annoying. That was 6 years ago and about 200,000 Camaros. |

We love our '15 SS, it's very special. Not impressed by the 6 gen.
We get compliments on the car nearly every time we go out in it. |

I bought the because I love it.
And in the end, I don't care if there was 3 hundred made or 3 hundred million.

Thanks for the compliment Blah Ho Hum car. I like it so it doesn't matter if you or anyone else likes it. What makes your car so special.....? Yes I did know there would be a bunch of bull$hit comments because you all think I somehow am insulting your cars. I said I think they are the coolest cars on the road. The topic of my post was the result of a local car show. Our Camaro club was at the show and we were specifically told to not come this year because our cars aren't worthy. The last car show I was at I heard some people mumbling about why we were there. One of the guys in our Camaro club had an old guy confront him and ask why he should be with the show cars with a new factory built car and he was asked to leave. Ya know it is what it is, I have an opinion and that's the way it is. One thing I didn't expect is insults about my car. How much f'in lower can you get? Of course there are Camaro's that aren't my taste but the owner obviously likes it and I would never be a total dickhead and tell him that I didn't like his car because it's a Blah Ho Hum car.

They are just another nice car now.
When they first came out though the attention was kind of a hassle.

I don't know, I enjoy my car daily as it makes my drive to work a blast. Yea, it's not the most rare vehicle on the road but that's hard to find now these days anyways unless you have some serious cash. I understand where you're coming from and I felt the same way when I owned a Corvette, to me it seemed they were everywhere but damn did I love that car. I feel any car make or model is all over the place it just takes the owner to make it stand out of the crowd.

Car shows? They're kind of like dog shows, or horse shows. Or even worse, beauty pageants...lol. If the show is for classic cars, then I agree, our cars are not "special." But it has nothing to do with V6 models, Camaros, or even rarity. No late model car should be in a show that is for classic cars.
So, who cares? I bought my car because I like it. It's my hot rod. It's a cool car with all of the modern amenities, and the possible modifications are endless. You could spend $100k and not run out of things to add, change, or delete. The Camaro is special because you can drive it to work, drag race it, road course it, and yes, show it, all in the same weekend.
