2014 SS spraying coolant out of AC vents

Just like the title says, my car started spraying coolant out of the AC vents today. It's obviously the heater core. The car has less than 7000 miles on it and has never been used in the winter and has no mods done to it except a cold air intake. This is completely unacceptable. I'm madder than hell. Between the car not being right from the day I ordered it and making three separate trips to the dealer just to get the leather seats right, I have had the car in my possession less time than the dealer has.

Anybody have any idea how long of a repair this is? I've read they have to pull the entire dash and windshield out.

Dash & windshield removal is only for our models, 2010 -2011.

Yours has an infotainment removal access point to the heater core.

Shouldn't be too bad of a job for them.

My wife had a Jeep that had that problem. They had it a day at most to replace the heater core. Was fine after that. The 2014 Camaro rates very high in consumer reports build quality but it happens. Once it's fixed it should be good to go.

I had an '07 Impala that went out also, but that car had over 150,000 miles on it. I replaced it myself, but it ruined the carpet. I just went out to my car a couple of minutes ago and checked the carpet in the Camaro and it is drenched. Now I have to find some time out of driving a tractor trailer across the state to take my car to the dealer. I know things happen and that's why there's a warranty, but it sure doesn't ease my mind, especially considering the money I've spent on this thing.

Good luck getting the coolant smell out of the car Everytime you use the heater. Demand new carpet. better tell them to clean out the vents or they will hear from you again.

You will need a new carpet and the padding underneath otherwise the smell will never go away. They have to strip down your floors to bare metal and replace all the material that soaked up the coolant.

I would say that if you're lucky and all the parts are not on, "back order", you might get the car back in 3 to 5 days.

Word. The mess that causes is much worse than the repair which is a huge pain in the ass.
I traded a Ford one time not long after a heater core failure. I just couldn't get rid of the smell.

Thanks for the advice guys. I just dropped my car off at the dealer. The leak got MUCH worse over night. This morning on the way to work there was a standing puddle on the passenger side. I told the service adviser that I wanted a new carpet and new vent hoses. He didn't seem like he was willing to take care of that. Once I hear back from him I will make sure I demand it. I agree that is one of the worst smells to have inside your car.

He seemed to think that the fix will require the dash and windshield removal, hopefully he's wrong.

Anybody know what recourse I have if they refuse to replace the carpet and AC vent hoses?

my 1ls at 20k needed heater core replaced, windshield is removed for repair! on a pleasant side note the windshield that they removed (2nd replacement :( ) was cracked and they had to put a NEW GM windshield in for free!

Just remind him that coolant is listed as a toxic substance now . times are different now, we use to not worry too much about where we spilled coolant but nowadays whoa , it's like you committed a federal crime. trust me you will get sick if you are breathing that everyday.

I've also got a crack, right in front of my face. I told the adviser that I would like to change that at the same time if they need to remove it. He said to call my glass guy and have him come remove it for them and then they would call him back when they were done so it could be done professionally. Florida the windshield is replaced for free through insurance.

You are 100% correct, I could feel myself getting sick. I felt the same way when my Impala heater core went out. I also have dogs that get in my car when I'm taking them to the vet and one of them likes to lick everything, so any residual coolant is not acceptable
