Seems like it would be a whole less stressful and reduce the chances of one day developing an ulcer by just moving to the right and letting someone on the tail pass on by. There's way too much to do in life to have to take time out of the schedule to deal with fighting their insurance and getting repairs done when they've accidentally rear ended you. Move to the next lane and give them a little wave as they pass on by. Relax again and focus back on whatever important issues or planning you're doing as you drive to your destination.

We have a lot of pos imports with those loud exhaust here, That act like they are above everybody else.. For some reason they think that they are so bad that they have to try and push me into racing them. Sorry I'm not an idiot like them. IF I'm gonna race, It's at the drag strip. Mostly is Acura's and Mazdas. I can careless why you are in a hurry but I'm not speeding for you to get where you are going. Should have left 10 mins sooner....

Once again I'll repeat, I don't drive it on the freeway. The driver tailgated me even though the right lane was open. He was turning right at the next intersection. Yet stayed on my tail in order to cause me to hit the unfinished road hard. He was purposely getting close to ramming me so I don't have time to brake my car. And I couldn't slow down enough otherwise I would be rear ended. Everyone else was slowing down. At the last second he moved to the right lane and turned at the light. He is completely at fault and should be thankful I didn't smash his head in.

Thank God I haven't ran into ricers...btw I don't know why some people get offended when I pull at a light next to them. This morning I was driving on a two lane street. This lady got offended and was slowly accelerating at the red light in order to get off early. So I was having some fun and hit it a bit flew past her. She wouldn't stop and I made her go 10 over.

Another time I wanted to move to the right lane and it offended a dodge truck driver that he also picked up his speed to make sure I didn't catch up. He was driving slow before it.

Okay, understood. All the more reason I would think that maybe going into the right lane, which you indicate was open, to get out of that nuts way might make more sense than staying put and worrying that he was going to ram you or run you off the road.

He is lucky that you did not smash his head in, I guess. I guess you're lucky you did not smash his head in either. Can you imagine the time involved in defending and/or serving for such an offense when it could all be avoided by moving over and letting the nutcase go by?

Just a thought.

I know you are trying to prove a point but you state to "move over to the right", the tailgater was headed to that same lane, how do you think it would have worked out then? How about not tailgate a car or motorcycle to begin with? When a driver "rear ends" another vehicle, it is deemed as "following too close at an unsafe distance". I move out of the lane and let them by, if you observe them they usually 9 times out of 10 do the same method to the next vehicle they contact. They are again "stuck behind a car, and I'm on my way.

How would someone know the tailgater was headed to that other lane before they actually headed there? That requires telepathy. All I'm saying is that right or wrong, sometimes it makes more sense to just get out of a nut's way and let them go on to the next one. The time and loss potential if something does occur is too great and, behind a keyboard everyone says "I'd smash his head in," but in real life that isn't how it really should happen in a society. Move to the side, let the nut go by, talk badly about him later.

Strange, I drive the same roads as raginghawk and have none of these issues. People cut me off constantly, but no tailgaters.

if raginghawk drives a white Camaro with no mufflers, he brings his problems on himself. Guy was a real d***head.

Don't forget that the Camaro is lower than many other vehicles. If you get out of a Yukon and into a Camaro, the vehicle behind you that you USED to look all of the way OVER, now looks like nothing but grill in your mirror... and headlights behind you that used to hit nothing much more than your rear bumper now seem to be pointed right at your mirror, reflecting beams of brilliant laser directly into your retinas.

This gives the impression that people are tailgating you.

I notice that when I'm in ANY lower sports car type vehicle, it SEEMS like people are on my ass... but, time it (count out your seconds from a landmark), and you will probably find, like I have, that there's not much difference in actual following distance from when you are driving your mom's '98 Aerostar.

My suggestion for the cure, if you STILL think people are tailgating you? Either drive much faster, or get out of the left lane!

I think you are worrying too much about what's behind you. I mean as long as you're not going slow in the left(fast) lane then who cares about what's going on behind you. If someomes tailgating me too close I just take my foot off the gas and coast it down until they go around. Sometimes they get mad who cares, can't let people stress you out like that.

And sounds like you did something to the guys car in that back parking lot... Hopefully that's not the case and I just read that wrong.
