Friendly reminder to not be an idiot on the streets.....

Remember - you can fix a car, but you can't bring someone back from the dead.

As a motorcycle rider (albeit of the cruiser kind..) and also someone who enjoys their speed fix in the SS, this accident that happened locally really hits home.

Article HERE

Be safe, everyone. Things don't always go bad, but when they do, it will probably be ugly.

You also can't fix stupid. Its sad the people that are allowed to drive. As a police officer, I see some stupid shit first hand. The world ain't getting any better, folks.....we have to be diligent in protecting ourselves from the idiots out there.

Sometimes it's the motorcycle riders that are in need of a reminder.

With rush hour you can forget that, there's stupid all around you its your job to not get caught up in it. And you're right it is not getting better and I don't think it will get better in the near future.

For the record Darren loved bikes, fast cars, and was not an amateur rider. He had a badass 2015 5.0 as well. He is leaving behind a brand new 5 month old baby boy as well that he was very proud of.

Please be careful out there guys, I'm going to head over to his g/f's house now this is news to me.

damn....not even sure what to say...Prayers for the family, and I hope momma and baby can get the support they need. Good on you for going to visit. I'm sure they need all the comfort they can get right now.

My prayers go out to the families and friends as well. It's never easy to hear these stories. When I was a little younger at heart, it was easy for me to get caught up in the moment in situations like these and "have a little fun". I was lucky.

On a side note, the Northfreeway (290) is probably one of the most dangerous stretches of road in America. East of this spot it is on the "lifetime reconstuction plan". It is dark, tight, and the road surface is horrible. I was coming home from work at 3:30 am and it was blocked off due to an accident. Given the time frame, probably not this one either. I don't know how many times I've been stuck on this road waiting for an accident to clear.

correction: Northwest Freeway.

Very sorry to hear it. It's a rough feeling to endure.

One of my more regretful memories is that the last words I ever uttered to a good friend, a few hours before he died, very unexpectedly.

They were normal BSing with a friend sorts of words, but as last communications go, if I'd known it was, I would have said something more indicative of the esteem I held him in.

Learn from it and drive on. Be as supportive of his family as is possible. Honor his memory as best you can.

Very sorry for your loss.

Was reading the article and it says the vette drove off, I wonder if there was foul play involved.

I spoke with his family, they were actually about to call me in fact. It was pretty instantaneous and nobody knows what really went down. I won't speculate but the obvious is fairly clear, Darrin is quite a bit older than I am and has been riding for years. His family is clearly distraught and are dealing with it as best as they possibly can. Really sucks tbh.

Major thanks too from everyone on here and the prayers. Definitely woke my eyes up a little as I do play around in my toys (I don't do bikes) from time to time.
