My Camaro's trip to the Smoky Mtns

If anyone's bored, I put a new album up, from our first road trip in the Camaro: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/album.php?albumid=961

This was last weekend. Had a great time! We stayed in Gatlinburg - got lots of looks there! I also went to a cruise-in in nearby Maryville, TN with a friend who lives in the area. We met Camaro5 member ssrsheaven with his IOM/black stripe 1SS/RS - we took turns answering questions, and it was nice to be able to show people two different trims and engines. Another guy with a black 1SS and ground effects showed up for awhile too.

The next day we went driving around the mountains, on a historic nature motor trail in Gatlinburg. Lots of great photo ops with the scenery and historic homesteads - if you are in the area you should go!

EarliestMemory we think alike.

My wife and I just got back from cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway and then through the Smokey mountains. I passed a silver 2010 Camaro on RT 411 in the Smokies and that was the only Camaro I saw the entire trip from Delaware, Ohio. The trip was awesome in our 2SS/RS LS3. The torque is so fun I never needed to downshift going through the mountains. We had our car to the top of Mt Mitchell North Carolina which is supposed to be the highest point east of the Mississippi so I have to assume our car has been has high as you can go east of the Mississippi. We managed 1085 mile trip and when I got home I washed it thoroughly hoping I would not find any chips or scratches because I did hear a few rock pings in the wheel wells during the trip. I was so pleased that after going over it with a fine tooth comb I could not find a single scratch or chip. It was a great trip and now my car is no longer a virgin garage queen.

Below are some picks of our car and us on top of Grandfather Mountain North Carolina.

Nice pics! I haven't had the chance to get mine up in the mountains - so far Merlin is a flatlander seeing only Ohio and Indiana cornfield country! But next summer's looking good for a trip out west to the Rockies :-)

See everyone who can make it down at VOA Park tonight. Weather's looking absolutely wonderful for Camaro cruisin'!

Boy that is the way a camaro should be displayed... against a beautiful back drop like the smokey mountains or some natural scenery. Thanks for the pics.

Great Pictures! The wife and I are going to Niagara Falls in two weeks. I hope to get some good pictures of the car... I mean the falls.

Our 1st Meet & Greet

Great time at our first Meet & Greet. I took a few but here are two that capture all of us who were able to make it. 11 proud 5th Gen owners. For such short notice that was awesome.

Three of us convoyed from Dayton and met up with two more in West Chester. 5 in a row driving again turned a lot of heads.

Great times. I can't wait for our next meet. Maybe then we will be more organized and maybe come up with some specifics for the club.

Thanks all for great memories.

Can't wait to see it shined up in the sunlight. Look forward to meeting you soon. have a safe trip.
Thanks for your kind words! We got back late today. We had a blast! We are totally in love with our car. Darin who has worked on and around high performance cars all his life (he practically grew up at the dragstrip) is totally enamored with this car. I've NEVER seen him act this way over a car! We got home after being in the car 2.5 hours and what does he do? Says he has to run to Walgreens to get gum, pop and chocolate. He was gone 20 mins! It only takes 2 mins to get to Walgreens. I called him on his cell to see if he was coming home! He didn't want to put her away for the night. He's going to print out a pic of him standing by her and put it up in his work area tomorrow. This car has totally transformed him. I find it adorable.

The one thing that was a little embarrassing was the attention our car got from passer-by's. We stopped at a McDonalds on our trip so the girls and I could use the restroom. I come out to find three guys who were driving pickup trucks standing by the car talking to Darin. Our car was the first Camaro they had a chance to see up close. On our way there and back, people were staring, doing double takes, honking their horns and waving. It's like we were driving a celebrity around. We took some pics at the park we were at which I will post as soon as he loads them on my computer. We saw only one other Camaro (in Findlay), a CGM w/ no stripes.

Every time we look at our car we drool and our hearts start to race. It truly is the most beautiful car we have ever seen and we still can't believe it's ours!

Some things we are going to do to our car: port the throttle body, ADM cold air intake, headers, and exhaust.
