Will 20x10 KMC Rockstars fit up front? With square 8" follow on question

It's time for new tires, and I want to go to a square setup. I was thinking that since I'm going to be buying new rims, I would bump up to 20x10 all the way around and wrap them in 305x35x20 rubber. The car is a daily driver that occasionally sees a pass at the local 1/8th.

I really like the KMC Rockstars, but after talking to tirerack, they stated that I shouldn't go bigger than a 20x9 up front.

I was ready to write these off, since I'm reluctant to drop down to an 8, but then I started checking around here, and there are several threads with people running 10-10.5s up front. Does anyone know if these will fit with stock suspension? Am I going to be rubbing fenders?

Discounting the fact that I like seeing big fat tires on this car, will I loose anything, or gain anything if I drop down to 8 inch wide tires (245s) all the way around? This would open up my wheel options significantly, if I can get over putting "skinny" tires on the back of the car. What kind of offset would I need in the rear to get back close to stock with a square 8" setup?

As a final side note, I seem to have an affinity for truck wheels, does anyone know anything about the Mayhem Patriots? I like the look, but I saw them listed as weighing 40lbs!!! I'd like to at least maintain, if not decrease my unsprung weight, and obviously that won't cut it if that weight is anywhere near accurate.

Thanks in advance

245 in the rear is wayyyy too small. Depends on your tire and offset if they will rub. And if u have a drop. The worse thing is if you put the 10" rear ones in the front it will be the same offset as the rear and it may have issues

Thanks for re-affirming my conviction to stay away from putting 8s on the rear. I think I'm going to stay with the plan of going square with 9s.
A 30-38mm offset should be fine all the way around with 20x9 with 275/40/20 tires right?
The wheels I'm currently looking at have 30, 35 or 38mm offsets, and I'm currently leaning towards a set with 35mm offset.
