Transmission Labour

Hi All,

Does someone have any idea what the standard labour time is (in hours) for a chevy garage to remove and inspect a transmission?

My 2010 camaro went into the chevy garage here in Qatar and they said it would be 30 man hours of work to remove the transmission, inspect, change the TCM and then reinstall. That seems excessive to me so wanted to know if anyone has anything from chevy or from personal experience in terms of how long it should take.

I tried calling Chevy in the US, but they said they couldnt help me and i had to call the local Middle East centre! Useless.

Any help would be much appreciated to try and lower my bill !

Cheers,

Sav

30 man hours!? Wow. I just had my rear main seal replaced and they had to drop the transmission and they had it done in one day and I am guessing it took less than 8 hours total.

It would be cheaper trading it in for new rather than paying for 30 hours of labor. Find an independent garage to do this.

unfortunately independant garages (ones with any good feedback) arent really available here... so i have to get them to do it, hence asking for some estimated times that i can take back to them

I went to AutoMD website. It appears that a transmission removal and replace is about a 6 to 7 hour job on a 2010 SS Camaro with an automatic. So whatever they charge per hour in your country, plus whatever they have to do to repair you transmission. This seems about right. I could take the transmission out in my 1967 Camaro in ~1 hour.

I would charge 7 hours to R&R.
That does not include any inspection.
Different for manual/auto
