HELP: O2 SENSOR LOCATION
I'm installing some headers and the instuctions say to disconnect the o2 sensor from the main harness. My 68 & 69 GTO'S don't have 02 sensors. Can anyone help me with locating the 02 sensor. I guess I'm to old to know. know.

There are two sensors on each side. One connection is under the car along the tranny, the other is up behind the block on each side. (Just follow that grey wrap wire coming up into the engine bay just below the manifold/cat connection. I'm looking into disconnect methods myself for my DT shorty headers.

Felixbed'
I found the sensors thx, I'm still trying to figure out how to unlug the ones mounted on the tranny. It looks like it has some type of plastic security type zip tie or something through the plug to keep a guy from unplugging it. I'm installing DT shorty's also. Let me know if you figure out thr security tie @ the tranny plugs. Speedy One |

I think you have to squeeze together to slide it out. Those on the block what did/are you going to do with those?

Those come apart faily easy. There is a green plastic tie, just pull on the tab and it will come out then you can pull the plug apart. Still haven't got the ones on the tranny, I can't get the plastic tie out to unplug them, may have to cut it.

Got the sensors @ the tranny, the needle nose worked, a liitle akward though, the drivers side is harded to get to though. The 02 sensor on the block on the passanger side was a bugger, I think they installed it before the motor went in because the tab was facing the inside of the block, just had to pull on it very hard with my fingers, it came after the 10th try.

Good luck with the rest of the install. I can't wait to get those headers in. Need to make sure that I have a whole day to work on it just incase of any set backs.

Just a question but why are you removing them from the main harness? You only need to disconnect them from exhaust.

Draco: It dosen't look like you can remove them from the exhaust it looks like the wires coming from the sensors mounted on the back of the block are pressed in. The other set you have to unplug at the tranny, they are threaded into the exhaust but if you don't disconnect the plug it would twist the wires while you tried to unthread them.
