Sunroof Air Deflector Broke

So the air deflector that pops up when I open the sunroof broke the other day. It was held on my 2 strips of metal and one snapped near the base. I took it out so I can still use the sunroof, it was catching and not allowing the roof to open all the way.

My questions:

How vital is that piece?

Should I replace it or just leave it out?

Should I be worried about leaks?

I have searched quite a bit and have never seen another Camaro experience this problem, but for some reason a lot of other GM cars seem to come up with similar issues.

I don't think it can be repaired, but here are some (bad) pictures just for comparison- one broken side, one non-broken side.
