White Letter Tires
I know everybody don't like them but, I wish tire company's made white letter size tires for Camaro's. You can get 15" and 17" tires but not 18" and above with white letter tires. I get a lot of complements on my little LS. Did mine yesterday with Ranger Paint.

Looks good. I like them as long as they are sold and not outlined raised white letters.

It's only a matter of time before the tire companies themselves start producing their more popular high-performance tires in larger rim sizes w/ raised white letters, since RWLs are coming back in style.
A couple companies known as Tred Wear Letters and Tire Stickers produce actual rubber letters that can be stuck to the sidewall with a durable rubber cement, effectively turning any plain black sidewall tire into a true raised white letter tire. They're far better than the paint markers, since these are actual rubber letters and not just a paint that is bound to wear off. Here are some pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They've gotten pretty damn popular, so it's only a matter of time before the tire companies themselves begin to capitalize on it. They have all the technology to produce true white letter tires, so they figure if they can do that and tack on an extra $30-$40 per tire, why the hell not? |

I always liked the white letter look as well. I used to run them on my 89 Trans Am. Firestone Firehawks.

Looks great! I've always liked the white lettered tires. I suppose cost is a big reason that tire companies quit producing them as well as tires being directional now. They would have to produce a lettered and non lettered version of the same tire for buyers that didn't want them.

My understanding is that rubber is white when they make tires and are dyed black? I know a lot of younger guys don't like em. I'm in mid 50's so I like them myself. A blacked out Camaro with white letter tires looks awesome to me.

Rubber is naturally white correct. They use a chemical called carbon black to make a tire stronger, ozone resistant and UV resistant. It has nothing to do with appearance.
