I suppose "pros" can get in, start it up and go but how do most scumbags do it, tow or trailer? Was the car able to be grabbed from the rear where it was parked? Those guys can yank one in about 30 seconds.

As posted before by balsarius our cars are actually ridiculously easy to break into, a "pro" is not needed to steal our cars just an amateur with the correct tools, in the Bay Area we have learned way more than we would like about this process and it is becoming more widespread not just California anymore, gm has admitted that there are security flaws in the 5th gen camaro, best bet is revelco system or hidden gps.

Cars have always been easy to steal. Auto manufacturers could make cars nearly
theft proof if they wanted to. Just think of all the replacement cars, parts, services, etc as a result of stolen cars. It's all about dollars imo.

Number 1 reason I always leave a rifle with ammo in the trunk. If my car ever gets stolen it's automatically number 1 priority for auto theft. Also have separate insurance for the rifle.

I will remember this for my next vehicle. I will buy a cheap gun for this reason alone.

Thats true , Dont get the point of leaving a gun for the thief, Now they are armed also . To each their own ,EDIT What is sad as we as Americans need to resort to these types of sneaky methods to get Law enforcement to find the car . Instead of a Rader gun pointed at soccer mom who is going downhill to get her kids to a event .Maybe the Law enforcement can actually find your car instead of setting up speed traps ? Did you make your payment? Im not messing around or being a jerk either. My roomate/friend back in California was late by 2 days. The bank he went through was done fkn around with late payers I guess and was repossessing 2 days after payment due. He thought his car was stolen. Called the cops whole 9 yards. The detective asked if he missed a payment. He said I dont think so. Which of course means yes. Before he proceeded to investigate further, he asked my friend to call the bank....
Mightve been a waste of a story but figured Id lay that down as an option. |

As for giving the thief weapon and ammo? Not my problem. My problem is the stolen car which I want found ASAP. Given normal local law enforcement response times to GTA, the added firearm will make it a higher priority. |
