I really wish they'd have either got totally retro, or come with a totally new design.
I've always felt that they missed the boat not offering an entire retro package. I'm not talking about slapping on a few badges and some oddly placed vinyl stripes and charge $2,000 for the package. Been cool to have an option for some hounds tooth inserted seats etc.

I actually like the 6th gen, the next gen cars don't always look better at every aspect of the previous especially when everyone has different tastes.

And there are plenty of ugly 5th gens out there.
Yeah, like the 14's and 15's

One more thing, I find it funny people are complaining about the "plastic" parts.

You own a 5th gen.

The car is plastic.

The corvettes?

PLASTIC.

......

Go buy a 60s car and be done

Yeah I guess, if you like a watered down generic swayed design that bares a name tag to sell a car.

Nah, only if you want a superior car with a platform actually developed with a sports coupe application in mind, a high quality world class interior, and vastly improved powertrains.

I get that y'all are in love with your 5th gens but come on. GM did a good job with what they had with Zeta but Alpha is a whole new ball game.

Whatever floats your boat, it don't float mine. If you want a car that looks exactly like the 100,000 like it, or shares designs from every GM car power to you. I don't.

My first Camaro had hounds tooth seats, so yeah, I'd have been down with that. I love the retro style, and I was hoping we'd see a nod to the 2nd Gen in the the new 6th. A 1970 model throw back, sitting on the Alpha frame, now that would've been cool.

Retro design is what sold the 5th Gen in record numbers, so I have no idea why they are drifting away from that. I think it's a huge mistake on GM's part. Instead of grabbing the ball and running with it, and maybe dominating the market, they are chasing the Mustang and their design choices reflect it. I hope I am wrong, but I don't see the 6th Gen selling nearly as well as the 5th did.... even though it's a better car.

At this point, my next car is narrowed down to three choices, a resto-mod 1st or 2nd gen Camaro, a brand new Challenger, or a trip to a Barrett Jackson auction in search of a resto-mod '68-69 Charger.

Its all about maximizing profit. This design has a bunch of elements crammed into it to appease multiple markets. You've got the European flair and their laws built into the car design, just look at the side marker lights int he quarters and fenders and the lights in the rear diffuser to meet that market. You've got a softened look for the female driver in mind. Then you've got built in the road course racer control and stability straight out of the box that can be improved on with different parts to achieve 1LE and ZL1. Thats all fine and great, but it totally leaves out a hardcore traditionalist such as myself. I love my 5th gen, but again as I stated up above, there was some details missed because to save money they parts bin rummage entirely too much.

So you'd prefer an older 5th gen that has 500,000 that look exactly like it instead of 100,000 with better performance, a new warranty, a way better interior no matter what you think of the outside that will turn more heads than a 5th?

Ok. Whatever floats your boat

You say this like it is something new. Let's see, should we design a car that appeals to the maximum number of people at the lowest possible manufacturing cost while still offering world class quality so the vehicle has a good reputation? Yeah....that's what we should do. They can't make everyone happy, but they are doing a pretty good job of making a large number happy, and being able to pay their bills!
