I also noticed price drop. The Z/28 is a BAD looking piece of machinery...it has that look of.. I'LL KICK UR A$$.
I did some research, and mostly what I got out of it was, that it's more of track car. Research shows the ZL1 is better all around choice. I am keeping an eye on this post, would like to hear what you Z/28 owners have to say, I don't think they will drop price on ZL1 like what appears on Z/28, just for fact it would be close to SS prices. I like the Z just that I would never use it for what it's built for. But I'm thinking about it. |

Amazingly so, I'll STILL take the ZL1 over the Z/28 even at the same price. Because I don't have a need for a Z/28. Especially since you can't get it in a convertible. If I were a track rat, it would be a complete reversal, obviously. But IMO, you'll never get the street manners which I prefer that the ZL1 possesses from the Z/28.
Anyone wanting a Z/28, though, should be jumping on them at this price. Won't last long...helluva value for what you get.

There are screaming deals on all flavors of 15 Camaros left over not just Z28's. However, many dealers put the dealer 15% cash on Z28's as they had been languishing on lots the longest in many cases.

I would see no reason to have a Z/28 over a ZL1 even if the cost is the same. The ZL1 is a much better real world car. I understand people buying them that track their cars, but the market is proving that track capability just isn't that important to most people. 1/4 mile times along with comfort and usability at a decent cost are still the gold standard with most buyers it would seem. Look at the Hellcat cars. All you see everyone say is that they don't turn, but everyone wants one and Dodge can't build enough of them.

GM is running a 15% discount on vehicles in stock the longest until 10-12-15. That is all this is. Nothing more...nothing less. If you want 15% off of a vehicle, do it quick.

I drove 450 miles to get my Z/28 because of an advertised internet deal. It was legit and made my decision to purchase very easy.

I was in the same boat a few months ago with snatching up a Z/28 with AC for one of these great prices. Went with a GTR instead though.
The way prices are going hopefully will see more of these out on the streets.

Is it 15% off MSRP? If so that puts you at $65K or does the dealer get 15% off of what they paid so there is still additional room to negotiate? and why we are seeing some advertised in the low 50s? |

$72k-$10.8k=$61.2k Some dealers are even putting an extra few $1,000 on top of the 15% to move these things. As I said, these GM discounts only run until next Monday the 12th. I have seen none that have been in the low $50k's. Perhaps used, but not new.

The lowest prices do reflect "Select Market Discount' rebates, where the buyer has to live (presumably title the car) in the 'select market'. I talked with Phillips about the silver '15 at the end of July. They were not able to give me that discount because I didn't live in 'Chicagoland'. They gave me some other rebates. but not the advertised price. I got hit with this same exclusion with the Z that I ultimately bought in AL. So, it's a GM policy/program, not the dealer.
BTW, the silver one at Phillips had 2mi on it in at the end of July, 15. It was outside (as shown in the pic) but otherwise looked good. It does have AC. Phillips has/had three 15s (red, white, and silver) and the red 14. Phillips have had consistently lower prices on all 4 since I began looking at 15 Z's around Chicago. For whatever reason, Chicago seemed to have a 'selection' (7-8) of Z's at lower prices. All the dealers were advertising prices with 2-5 stacked rebates that any given buyer may or may not qualify. Compare the Longevity and Residual of these two cars. In one hand you have a supercharged car. Generally speaking prone to a lot of issues down the road as the engine isn't naturally aspirated and forced induction wears an engine a lot faster usually IMO. On the other hand you have a Z28 LS7 engine. They wont make 7.0L cars anymore and I think any car with an LS7 engine (the Z06 and especially the Z28) will have a high residual and eventually become a desired item down the road. So financially, if both are the same price, I would get a z28. If finance and future isn't your concern, then just get what would be more useful for you. If you want all the technology, softer ride, Halo lights and 580 hp get the ZL1. if you want superb handling and a naturally aspirated engine, Z28. I would get the Z28 like I said, not many of those on the road...plus I like the front end better.
