There's a couple cheaper Roku options as well. We have one in the bedroom. Great little device though 'free' content is slim, you can use it with just about any of the paid streaming services (Netflix, hulu, amazon, etc).

If you have Amazon Prime you get Prime Instant Video included. It's $99/year for Prime but if you buy stuff off Amazon all the time it pays for itself, not to mention you get MP3s and Instant Video included.

Trust me, it won't be a gamble. A lot of people are moving away from cable/satellite already, particularly younger folks. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one out of all my friends that still has cable.

Just added our amazon prime to the roku in advance of this series. Probably going to be a bit until we see any episodes though. :p

So not only do I have to spend more money to get my computer to my TV screen, I also have to pay $99 a year to watch. Sorry boys ,but you're just not worth it. It didn't cost me anymore to view it before.

I have prime, wasn't sure if i would renew subscription as Netflix has a way better set up for movies. but with this coming I will keep it I do enjoy getting stuff from amazon with asap shipping for free even on cheap single item orders. Just hope the figure out a better system for the prime video section it is really hard to navigate and also pain when stuff is in the prime section but not free just prime discounted. I find I just use netflix instead as it works perfect anything listed is part of my subscription, the search and suggestions and new release and trending are easy to scroll through when you are surfing. I have to set up my amazon on my ruko's maybe it works better there then on the computer.

Amazon prime blows. At least 70% of the things I want to buy are not prime. Anything worth watching you still need to pay. We made it two weeks into the trial before we cancelled.....waste of time and money.

That's because you're a dinosaur. I don't even own a TV anymore. Monitor technology is decades ahead of even the best TVs and only costs a fraction. Most people my generation/in my industry have ditched TVs for gaming monitors and streaming services. And then there are those of us about that Jack Sparrow life. Either way Amazon can easily afford to put more production value into the show can BBC ever could. Net worth of BBC is estimated around $7 bil, Amazon at almost $30 bil.

I don't know a single person who has ditched their satellite or cable for Internet based programming. Will we be forced to some day probably, but I work in new houses all the time, and directtv and dishnetwork still show up on every job. I would bet that most of you that are claiming that this form of viewing is dead don't live in rural USA where in many places internet is still pretty slow.
I watched these guys all the time when the were on real TV and so did my car buddies. Not one of them, including me, is going to pay an extra 90 a month to watch one show. So boys, you lost many viewers here in central Pa. |
