I don't personally, but one of my best friends took his '72 there for a gear swap and s new tranny. They were fair and saved him a few bucks by selling him one of their shop trannys they had in stock already. They also seemed to be the best price on dyno pulls, 2 for 50$. Plus their shop car is a 5th gen. I'll be taking mine there when it's time for a tune.
Hope that helps a little. B. |

Quite a few people from H-Town Camaro Club take their cars there.
They are honest, seem to do a great job...and GREAT customer service! You can check the place out this Saturday night as they are having a dyno night. ![]() Sent from my Black 2013 DropTop 2SS/RS |

HP Motorsports
I have plenty of experience with HP-M and I wish I would have never taken my car there. They are outstanding in the beginning when trying to earn your business, Talk a good talk, lots of promises. After I dropped almost 16K on my build I absolutely regret ever have had them touch my 45th. Had to leave my car there after I drove from Corpus because of all the unfinished “ooops I forgot” things they didn’t do. Had to get a hotel for the night because I got a ride from a buddy thinking I would be bringing home the best car I’ve personally owned, but didn’t. Owner actually got me a rental for the ride home. Got plenty of BS text messages from owner to include lots of pictures of the aftermath. I would gladly post all this information for any non-believers. Barely 1K miles later my car sits with a possibly broken lifter, knocking all over the place. Yes I paid for a new set of LS7 lifters, well at least that’s what the receipt says. Now no answer from anyone from HP-M.
I bought an LSX from them and a Callies rotating assembly. I got sold on a 427 Callies Assembly, then got a call from the owner “Jay” that Callies 427 assemblies are way bacl ordered, so he sold me on a 421 assembly. Then a month after they received the assembly they post a video on their Facebook page of my car that states “Urbano’s 418 Stroker”, I was like WTF 418? Uhm no I paid for a 421 so I called and Jay stated that “It’s what we said it is”, so no actual answer verifying a 421. I asked for the Callies receipt alongside machining receipt, he would not and has not given it to me – nothing to prove I have a 421 which is what I paid for. 6 months later I’m still asking and now I get no answer. And that’s only some of the problems, don’t even get me started with my test 1983 Chevrolet Silverado spark plug wires they left on. I asked his mechanic what happened to the MSD wires I paid for, he was like “Sir those are MSD wires”, Uh no they’re not. He called Jay to verify and sure enough, “Oooops yeah they’re not”, wow didn’t even know what to say. My New catch can, not even put on. They were like “Oh we saw one in the shop floor and didn’t know whose it was” , when I went back the 2nd time for my car it was on the floor board on the back seat – WTH? Yeah, just some, plenty of pictures of it. Oh and a week after, my car stalls under the freeway with a huge puddle under the car. Pop the hood open, Fuel line disconnected from the fuel rail. The retaining clip that goes inside the fuel line wasn’t even there, It was being held on by a little compression. I took pictures and sent them to Jay at around 5am, said maybe they forgot to put the clip back in the fuel line. So no I’m paying a machine shop to check the bore to verify exactly what I bought. |

J-Rod is the only person who touches my car.
I only (personally) know one person who used HP and he didn't have a good experience. I've seen other people with good things to say about them. I was at the dyno night Sat and saw nothing negative from their guys.

Man...in a city like Houston, it's tough to keep up with what shop is 'the best'
There is a HUGE market for High-performance shops in this town. As such, you get mechanics bouncing around from place to place, I think. 510, LMR, KP, HP, FAST(gone..), EnglandGreen, etc... With so many choices, you're gonna get some "omg they're the best" and you're also gonna get "these guys are crooks" I truly wish that I was competent enough to do all of my own work, so I didn't have to deal with all of this, but that's not gonna happen. The best thing you can do is go visit them. If you're looking for headers/tune, that's probably do-able at WAY more shops than a custom turbo build on a special ordered 427 that you've specced out. I've had many positive interactions with HP, however I've only had minimal work done on my car there. Good possibility that they're going to be getting some business from me in the not-too-distant future, but if I start seeing reviews of shit work coming out of there, you can bet that I'll scratch them from the short list. Their shop car is awesome as hell, but of course, they're gonna go balls out on a shop car, right? Talk with them...visit IN PERSON. If you don't feel comfortable, go somewhere else. May cost you a bit more, but better to spend 1-2k more now, than have to drop another 10-15 to fix a big mess. Just to show how big the market here in town is, I've listed all the shops that I'm aware of off the top of my head. I'm sure that I'm missing some, and these are in no specific order. I just list them to show that if you're not stuck with a single option...some of these guys may be the best, others absolutely awful. HP Motorsports KP Racing Hennessy EnglandGreen PowerFab J-Rod 510 Race Engineering Bumbera's Performance Houston House of Power Advanced Racing Dynamics <-- got a bad wrap from HTCC - suggest avoid LMR Extreme Offroad & Performance (only reason I know about these guys is bc they did a Maggie install on my bud's 2010) ..... I'm sure I missed a multitude of places. Point is that you've got options. Just do your research, and know exactly what you want, and what you're willing to pay for it. I'm sure you can find a place to get it done. |

When you blow up engines you don't stay in business long.
Both ARD and 510 on your list are out of business, for that reason. Stick with PowerFab, KP Racing and J-Rod and you'll be fine. |

I know it is in a different city, but from the forum reviews and word of mouth ADM performance has a pretty good rep in Dallas

oh wow...had no idea 510 was gone...They're the folks that built the motor in my car when the previous owner had it. Lucky me, I guess...it hasn't blown up yet!! I'm going to be taking it somewhere for a REALLY good look-over early next year, though, just to make sure all is well.

Updates
Unfortunately there isn't any updates. I'm pulling both heads off to get them ported. I saw that Texas Speed has a sale on the porting for 750 plus valves. Should be around 1100 with new valves. Unfortunately the 16k I paid didn't include porting the heads. This is what the owner quoted me when I asked how much he would charge me.
