Steering Wheel Shakes

I have noticed a problem recently and was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. At low speeds turning around corners or turning into my drive way, my steering wheel shakes not all the time but I would say about 60% of the time. It happens if I am turning left or right. The intensity of the shake varies as well, from a light vibration to the wheel vibrating like mad for a couple of seconds while in the turn. Any ideas?

I would start with the simple stuff..Check power steering fluid level just to make sure. Let the car Idle and turn the wheel back and forth a bunch of times then look in steering pump reservoir to see if there is alot of bubbles in the fluid... air in system. If neither of those dont work.... Take it to dealer and let them work on it! There is quite a few things that could cause this in the front end. JMHO

you might swing by the dealer and have them check your power steering pump since they are a known problem

I posted a similar issue a while back. When I go over speed bumps the steering wheel jerks back and forth. If I'm at a perfect 90 degrees to the speed bump it's fine. The 90 degrees is both front wheels hitting the speed bump at the same time. The fluid level is fine, no power steering pump noise, and no issue steering otherwise.

When you say vibrating, do you mean twisting left and right on you, or just a general up and down rattle type? Reason I ask is, the other post are describing a power stearing, or handling (Left to right twisting of the wheel) type issue, and a vibration (up and down) is usually an alignment or tire balance type issue.

That sounds more like a stearing related issue then an alignment or tire balance issue. Keep after the dealer, they should be able to duplicate the issue at some point.

OK, so mine just started doing the same thing this morning. Making a right hand turn at a stop sign and the steering wheel started to vibrate, felt like the feed back from my Xbox controller in my hands. Did anybody get an answer from a dealership as to what might be causing this to happen?

My G5 has done this. It would shake REALLY bad when I braked, and turned, and it was due to warped rotors. Which confused me, considering the car wasnt even a year old. Then about 6 months later it did it when I turned corners at slow speeds, and it was my drive shaft going bad. They fixed it, but not it seems like its starting up again when I slow down. Im selling it within the next 3 months or so to order SS Victory Red W/ White Strips Camaro!!! But that may be your problem! Hope I helped. Get both checked! Both were covered by Bumper to Bumper warrenty.
