What I find troubling and seems bad information is whomever claiming to get a 2SS or whatever for 36,480. LOL what year. Also when you lease the purpose of a lease is because you pay no interest, so how the hell at the end are you getting a bank to loan you the balance for another five years and oh yeah at zero percent interest. I have an 839 out 850 credit score and no bank is giving out 0% on an auto loan, sorry it just doesn't work. So to keep your payment the same is a lie and not happening, no bank is going to loan you free money on what they would consider at that time a used car no matter how great your credit is. Ya'll may think you've fooled people not in the finance and banking world, but this guy here isn't. Stop spreading lies.

Stop defending this lie. now you self correcting and saying 40k make up your mind its either 380 a month for a full 8 years or not. simple your lyingggggggggggggggggggg

I'm chiming back in late...I walked in with a purchased 3 year old 45th V6. I said I want that 2SS for the same monthly payment. I was fully expecting to leave in the car I drive there. They couldn't or wouldn't do it as a purchase but did as a lease. I certainly don't think I pulled one over on anyone. They seemed willing to deal as summer was coming to an end and I got what I wanted. Of course, I'm stating over with payments but driving what I want.

There was a time when it was almost a guarantee that the residual was going to be more than the car's value but that has changed. I should be able to keep it or sell it and come out.

I will also do "some" modding because as was said here, until you hold the title, you don't own it anyway.

But your lease is for, how long... 3 years? A full financed loan would be, what... 5 years? So you're done after a 5 year traditional loan, but after 3 years of a lease, how many more years for a buyout? I'm just asking. Never leased. Made no sense to me.

This is by no means a study in, "how to buy a car." If you can, walk in and pay cash. No fuss, no muss, no INTEREST!

In my case, I had a SEVEN year loan on the 45th. (I know, that sux too) I had four more years to pay on a car I was not happy with. I wanted the SS. I put nothing down, they paid off my car, (I actually got $300 in overages back) and have a 3 year lease with a $27K residual. A 2012 2SS with all my options - and low miles because neither of mine are DD's, Blue Books right now to a private owner at $27K.

So, in three years, I can get a new leased 6th Gen, secure a loan for the $27K and keep, or sell the car and get out from under the lease altogether. It's my first time too. Am I missing a big 'gotcha?' Is the buyout, just that? No tax?

I could conceivably be paying on a car for 6-8 years. I also have a business to help with lease write-offs. t just doesn't generate tons of cash...
