Chillers......are they worth it?
Hi everyone. I would like to know any information from anyone that has ever installed/used a inner chiller, killer chiller, etc. I have been researching them and they seem like a good idea. The problem I am having is that everyone is really cagey with the instructions, total costs involved, etc. I understand the proprietary setup of each and how they don't want others to copy them, but I think it is a little odd for the consumer since we are being asked to spend 1k plus on a product that we have no idea how to install, how much work it will take, etc. Any and all comments are welcome. I understand the basics of how they work, but which is the best? Which is the easiest to install? Can you discharge your ac system on your own? How?
Thank you!

I have Daves Super chiller on my 2011 with a KB supercharger. Do I think it's worth it...yes! But...you have to wait and wait to get it. 0 problems. And the instructions...there aren't any. He will tell you over the phone so maybe you better record it. And this brings me to one of my pet peeves...what the hell is the big secret about telling a buying customer how to install (in great detail) and operate a product. Buy a Big Stuff system and your on your own. Same with a lot of other stuff.

I agree. Instructions are needed. These days with cell phones with cameras and the internet...there is simply no good reasons for why basic directions are not included. Snap a few pics. Type up a few words. No reason why a seller of products should not have installation instructions.

I have Dave's chiller as well. I bought mine back in March of 2013, and I think it came with about a 1/2 page of install instructions. I did the install myself, in my garage. I did pay Firestone to re-claim my refrigerant, and re-charge the system when I was finished with the install though. I have my own vacuum pump and A/C gauges, so I was able to put the system under vacuum, check for leaks, then have it recharged. I think total cost, including purchase of the chiller, was about $850. The install only took about 2-3 hours. For me, the hardest part, was deciphering the instructions for how the bypass valve is plumbed into the inter-cooler/chiller system. I ended up making my own instructions afterwards, that i sent back to Dave, to possibly help out future customers.
Long story short, if you get the chiller, I'm a short drive away in NC (Fayetteville), and I'd be willing to help you with the install. -Scott |

SLP for example, I have not seen an installation so it would be difficult to make instructions. Do you have a PDF for SLP installation? |

We provide 31 pages of step by step photo instructions, as said previously we print these out and provide them with the interchiller kit.
They are very easy to follow, the installation is also very easy and tools required are very basic. We also provide phone/email support if you cannot call us then email with the time you would like to be called and we will call you back. Whilst we have only been running a short period of time we have already sent out 8 kits so far with zero issues, ETA times on kits are days not months or years. Shipping to the US only takes 4-5days at around $100 USD. We run a group of companies so customer service is important to us, if we provide you with a promise or deadline it will be meet. The last chiller ordered we were paid and then 5 days later it was sent. |
