Help a noob out guys!! Headers question..

So I have a 2010 2ss/rs ls3 with borla cat back exhaust (2.5") and I recently bought some 1 7/8 kooks long tube headers but did not buy the mid pipes. My question here is will I be able to install the headers with my exhaust without needing the hf/off road cats? Or do I really need them. This guy I talked to said I do not need them unless it's the stock exhuast. Can you guys help me out I want these bad boys on as soon as possible but this is holding me back. Thanks for the help you guys appreciate it

You will need either their off road connection pipes or high flow cats. They have a ball connector on the headers themselves that only connects to their pipes. After that you can either get the stock 2.5" factory outlet or 3" outlet for larger aftermarket exhaust.

Long tubes replace your stock exhaust manifold AND your catted mid-pipes. You will need to either get the HFC's, or go catless pipe to compensate for the gap between the headers and the catback exhaust.

Hopefully I am not offending anyone by posting, but "this guy" you talked to is presumably not the one paying for your inspections etc. He is, I assume, a guy who would make money from you doing the install.

Make sure that YOUR best interests are what he has in mind, not HIS. Maximizing his dollar per PITA minute ratio might be his primary concern.

yeah you need the HFC or "off Road" and I recommend HFC.... As its illegal in all 50 without, but hey people want to ignore that.... And you being in the liberal republic of California I am sure no one will notice you have headers or anything at least for 5 minutes until some pissed off illegal calls your license in for being too loud, and then you have to go though Department of Employment Qualified idiots inspection so the Employment Prevention Act can kick in to help reinvent the hopey changey thing, ( and we all sing Kumbyeyah a Kenyan folk song here where they have universal witch doctor coverage thanks to the goat reimbursement tax act). DO they not have Smog inspection in your city that would be a first for CA, so be wary as.... you better know a good shop to certify you and not go running to tell OMG he is not CARB compliant immediately tear up his welfare card and impound the car call the EPA police....... And the shocked look on all the illegals faces when they tow your car and they do not even have plates on theirs let alone insurance...... Priceless....lol
Excuse the sarcasm , ( or don't its early LOL), but the world is going to be shocked when the CAFE standards hit in 2017 and everyone has to buy crappier and crappier cars until we go to bicycles.... as 5MPG gain per year until the whole fleet reaches almost 55MPG well...that's like what VW just tried to do and you see how well that went...... Oh yes and lets not forget they are messing with oil formulations to make them a disaster waiting to happen in 2017 to the fools who use the wrong classification of oils.... Gotta Love Big Government...........
