See this is typical for sales when you bring a new design to market. Unlike the Camaro, Ford had these sales numbers despite having no seven year hiatus from production in which its fanbase could not get into one.

I, for one, hope they produce and sell a million Camaro's, that way I can take one off the hands of someone, who got caught up in the "gotta have it" fever and ended up over their heads financially, for a "must go" price.
Excess supply always devalues the product for certain.

I confess though that I desperately wanted to by a 2010 Mustang over the Camaro. The looks are improved, techie toys are abundant, and they are easy to find. That was until I test drove the new GT and found it to very unpleasant. I went directly from the Ford Dealer to the Chevy dealer and bought my SIM! I have zero regrets.

It is a shame that CR weights the 2 mpg diff., location of gauges and switches, and blind spots so heavily. If not for those differences the Camaro would be the CR best Muscle Car.

However, there are a lot of CR loyalists, so perhaps this ranking will help those in "the know" to drive the best kept secret for a while longer before the masses catch on.

FORD TO INCREASE MUSTANG PRODUCTION TO MEET RUNAWAY CONSUMER DEMAND

* Ford will increase Mustang production to 192,000 in 2005 – 80,000
more than in 2004

* 2005 Mustang is the hottest-selling car in the industry
Not hard to do w no competition wonder what the camaro would sell if there was no mustang

I hear a whooooshing sound coming. The Camaro is selling well because its NEW and its BACK. The true test of sales will be if it will still have high sales 5 years from now like the Mustang does.

I would truly hope it sales well now. If it did not, then it would be deemed a failure and Camaro would yet depart from the Muscle car scene. Competition is good. So perhaps GM will take these reports and do something to get a "W" in the column for next year...

Oh wait.....the 5.0 will be out next year. Oh well there is always 2012... ?

I could care less about sales in all honesty. I have my 2SS and by Mustang winning something else it makes me feel even better when I am blowing past one since no stock GT has even come close, not even the 2010 GT. And I have my other toy to blow the doors off every GT500 I've come in contact with so GM wins everytime for this household.

I would call that a modification win on the GT500, but to each his own. lighten up man it's not that serious.

You should care about how many Camaros are sold. GM didn't stop making Camaros in 2002 because they sold too many. The more muscle cars, the better.

Consumers Reports

Consumers Reports! Are you kidding...and what do they know about automobiles? More specifically, what do they know about performance automobiles?

They should stick to televisions and washing machines. As we all know, CU has displayed a bias favoring Asian and Euro brands for decades. They seem to love beating up our North American car makers. CU doesn't have much credibility with me.

CU has a tendency to favor the Euro and Asian philosophy of small high revving, high tech engines, of course they'll favor the Stang.

The SS Camaro is a 2010 version of "The Classic American Muscle Car"; big on horsepower and cubic inches. CU didn't get it back then and they don't get it now.
