It's a 2003 Mach 1 (it's a 32 valve DOHC, not 16 valve SOHC like the GT) with a Procharger making 448 rwhp. Only 27k miles. I don't have to sell it or anything, it's running great but lately I've had thoughts about just getting something newer.

I LOVE my Mach 1, it's a beast but it's really at about it's safe limit without digging into the motor and it's just not worth it on a 12 year old car. Both the new 'stang and Camaro motors have so much more potential than the old 4.6. Even as it stands, pushing this much power through it makes me nervous every time I get on it. I've got an awesome tune, and it's probably going to last a long time but it's still hard not to worry about a rod ventilating my block.

So I guess the reason I'm here is to see if I can be swayed over to the DARK SIDE instead of getting another Mustang. Obviously you guys prefer Chevy. What is it about the 5th gen Camaro that makes you guys take it over the Mustang 5.0? As far as looks go, they're about a wash for me. I like 'em both.
The throttle response in my 100% bone-stock (except for wheels) 2012 Camaro 1SS is, overall, worse than the throttle response in my 1970 Buick.

The Buick is carbureted and it has better throttle response. You won't get a lot of "here's a bad thing about Camaros" here, but I'm not real shy.

OP, buy what you want. You can't go wrong with a modern pony car. They perform at a level that will satisfy regardless of which badge is in the grill.

I agree with this though I have an L99 Auto with AFM which was simply unbearable to live with as it came. Tuned with AFM gone the car is really stout and responsive. So I too am not afraid to point out the Camaro's shortcomings. And of course it too has some.

Yeah the selection in Muscle Cars today is really nice. I love the look and stance of the Camaro. But at the same time I can't knock the Mustang or the Challenger. They look pretty badass.

Sure they all have plus & minus, but you can't go wrong with whatever you choose.

I had a passing interest in the Gen5. My wife was ga ga over the Camaro. She put me over the top and is the reason we have one. I later married them both.

I'm probably as qualified to answer this as much as anyone here since i have owned both a 2013 Camaro and 2013 Mustang gt. Here are my thoughts.

Camaro
-better presence. Still a unique looking car and is very eye catching. This model will be a classic.
-more comfortable suspension and ride. Seats are super comfortable and meant for long drives. Felt like the Mustang was ready to blow up over every hole.
-heads up display is awesome and so worth it.
-2013 comes standard with parking camera and parking sensors. So overall the technology and comfort was much better than the Mustang for me.
-holds its value better than a Mustang gt by 3 grand or so compared to the Mustang, all else equal,in terms of resale value.
-better balance. Mustang felt like it was going sideways half the time.

Mustang
-dramatically lighter and faster. Several hundred pound difference. This car can fly and it's performance out of the gate is great.
-awesome exhaust sound. Sounds menacing at all times.
-dramatically better visibility. Much less blind spots.
-changing the colors of the gauges and ambient lighting is a cool feature.

So in short, I thought the Camaro looked better, the ride was noticeably more comfortable, and I liked the technology like the heads up display and parking sensors and camera. The Mustang performed better and had much better visibility. Depending on all of this, choose which best fits for you.

You know if Ford had the balls to offer 400+ HP in 2002 to 2008 there might be a way bigger following and way more sales for that period.

Most guys kept their 4th Gen(like me) or bought a GTO or a Vette.

With 305hp the Mustang was not wowing anyone and it took until 2011 to get 400+.

Ford messed up bad.

That was then, and this is now! Dramatic improvements all around. You can't go wrong with whatever decision you make.

Don't buy a camaro. I don't post on here much as you can probably tell. But I saw this and just had to save you from making a bad decision. I have a 2012 and it is the most poorly made car. I've been through 4 torque converters, the sunroof has a constant squeak and rattle that won't go away and the steering column also squeaks while turning. Not worth $15,000, much less the 30,000 it was bought for. Would totally sell it if I could get most of my money back but sadly wouldn't be able to at this point. Worst purchase ever, will not buy Chevy again. The quality of this car is horrendous.

Wow hard to believe we both own Camaro's.

Mine is awesome and this is clearly the best built Camaro ever.

Just regular maintenance for mine, brake pads, oil, filters.

Too bad you got a bad one.

@StainTrain416, LMAO too bad for you. Perhaps regular maintenance or some realnworking knowledge about mechanics could help you... all well, OP this is just one negative review about Camaro GenV out of hundreds.

You seem like a smart man you will make the right decision! *whispers* "caaaaammmmaarrrroooo"
