I don't want adequate, I want all out performance. I will be checking my MAF sometime tomorrow. In the meantime, what is your suggestion? I read the Jannety reports when they were released; they are dated info now. It appears to me as if I may need a CAI, Inc system from APEX (CAI, Strong MAF sensor, APEX Air Scoop, and a washer bottle relocate kit). Feel frre to PM me a price list!
Our intake works great with the Magnuson. Most tuners report 35+ HP gains with the Roto-fab intake compared to the stock air box with drop in filter! Our air box volume and larger filter make the difference when air demands are higher. We mold a plastic inlet specifically for the 2300 Maggie. For those with a Roto-fab intake already, you can simply purchase the supercharger upgrade kit when you add a supercharger.
Important-with any air intake system change on your aftermarket supercharged car, you should have your calibration reviewed immediately!
For those contemplating the Magnuson Heartbeat, we are finishing up our intake for it right now. The Roto-fab Heartbeat intake should be available within 1 week.
FYI, although you see our dry filter option (off white in color) in some pictures, we recommend only the oil filter for supercharger applications. Some of our customers frequent car shows and will switch to a nice clean dry filter once the car is parked!

I've seen a few threads where people installed Z28 intakes, but they didn't seem to use the cover.

Has anyone used this part with their CAI? Are there any aftermarket versions?
Very good point. I remember during our Pontiac G8 CAI testing, simply popping the hood latch and allowing the hood to rise slightly off of our hood seal caused an immediate jump of well over 20 F! If an intake doesn't effectively isolate the filter from engine bay heat it can certainly cause power losses compared to stock.

Absolutely, heat is the enemy of power.

On the z28'it has a piece of plastic to seal the box. On non z28s it seals on the hood liner perfectly. There is no hood liner on the z28.

That is correct. When looking at some of the aftermarket systems you also need to look at the bottom side of the air box. It doesn't actually seal or in some cases even touch anything which leaves it completely open to engine bay heat.

Although we offer many SC upgrade kits, adding an LSA to your SS is one which didn't make sense for us to offer. When you go to the LSA the filter itself along with small parts such as screws are all that you could re-use. Therefore, it just isn't feasible to offer an upgrade kit.
However, we do now offer a complete kit for those of you making the switch to the LSA blower. This kit is basically our ZL1 intake with the air box just like our ZL1 box except the top is contoured to your SS hood. Our ZL1 intake picks up over 25 HP as compared to the stock air box with a drop in filter, so it's really cheap HP!

Good to know.

I have a 2014 SS/RS, performance short throw shifter with the dual mode performance exhaust. I just recently purchased a K&N Typhoon CAI. After all the good reviews about sound and performance I thought I would put one on my car. I'm kind of disappointed with the difference it made to the sound. Before I put the intake on, my car had a decent sound at cruising speeds and shifting from 1st thru 4th gear. Now it is quieter when cruising, not what I want. It used to growl and pop more before this and now it is about as quiet as an SS without the performance exhaust. I do notice a little bit of extra power and deeper tone when I have my foot in it, but also have a slight lag when I punch it. Has anyone else experienced this?

That is the exact opposite of normal. Additional air flow will add sound and improve throttle response. You should check and see if you have a "weak" MAF sensor.

Which intake is this? Does this require a Tune?

He is referring to Cold Air Inductions Inc. It does not require tuning. Most intakes for these cars do not. Unlike many other cars that need tuning every time you pop the hood, the ECMs in the Camaro can make its own adjustments up to a point.
