After cutting the resonator off and seeing that it is a straight threw design I did not think it would make that much of a difference. I was really surprised when I started it up. It sounds great going down the road from the inside and has good tone. It kind of has a under watter sound when you first start standing behind it but sounds like a bad azz from the side.
Here is a short clip I took with my cell phone of a cold start this morning. I will try to get a rev when I get someone else around to help and some pictures of what I did.

I can't tell but are you still running the stock mufflers? That will make a big difference. As long as an L99 keeps the stock mufflers in place, there shouldn't be an issue with AMF noise. The stock mufflers (on the L99s) are designed to eliminate the AFM sounds.

The problem is the stock mufflers look terrible.

Yes stock mufflers.
Thats a good thing about the ground effects. You can just barely see them.

After driving it for a few days and finally getting a chance to lay into it. I don't like it. At part throttle and normal driving it sounds great. But when you really get on it it sounds like a truck with straight pipes. It's real raspy at higher rpms.

So I ordered a set of 8" glass packs and I am going to put them where the resonator was and see how that works.

I bet the Borla would should great after I take these off. I plan on leaving the front ones and doing just a custom xpipe.

Holy cow... what do think the weight loss was from removing those resonators? Would removing them, adding an X pipe and leaving the stock rear mufflers add any rear wheel horse power?

I was thinking about doing this, with an xpipe in the middle, do you have a good sound clip of how it sounds at WOT?

I've done this, I installed the MBRP 3 inch inch, which eliminates the resonator. I can tell you in v8 mode it is a beast! But when the 4 cylinder kicks in...its not so pleasant. MBRP's is made for LS3 only ATM. I would go with Borla or Corsa L99 specific exhaust, they give a modified resonator so you can have all the great sounds in 4 or 8 mode.

PS MBRP is working on a setup as well, I'm hoping to hear something from them soon as the buzzing and switch backs are annoying me.

See my install thread for more. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...124#post890124
