One Tire mark Burnout?

So not sure this the right spot to post this but had a question. Feel like i always used to lay two tracks.. Why did i only lay one last night (albeit a long, deep track).. auto v6, few power gains, more than capable of decent burnouts but why?

Then let me ask (not that I'm debating it, actually did some research to confirm that being true), why sometimes do i lay two pretty even tracks.

That's weird...are you sure....maybe you did a burnout over the same spot twice. This car does it.....

I have an auto V6 and can confirm it's a one wheel wonder- HOWEVER in some instances I've laid two marks down or had it switch the spinning tire from one side to the other depending on conditions. Wherever the path of least resistance, there's where the traction breaks.
I'm looking for a SS rear diff for mine to change ratios and get the posi. I like to draw 11's on pavement and then try convince police it's "art"

Yes, the auto V6 is an open diff. Sometimes the one wheel wonder spin comes into play. Only when they are equal power and traction do they both spin equally. It makes for a difficult time for a V6 to get great traction at the track.

Photo is from a few years ago Showing a two wheel burnout.

Video was a couple years ago when at the track, trying to get equal power to both wheels for a good burnout.

If the traction is the same on both sides then both tires will spin. The tire with the least traction will spin leaving the other tire stationary if the sides are not even.

Also if your car slides sideways during the burnout them this changes things.

I know I have the 3.27 open rear but I don't think I've ever layed down just one stripe. Always two nice ones, maybe because I'm always pointed nice and straight. I'll be buying a rear cradle from an SS regardless though. And I'll definitely be needing it next year!

How well does the stock SS rear do for launching with 500-550whp? When do guys start really needing extra like the Eaton unit etc?

I broke the spider gears in my stock diff 2 months ago, then swapped in the EATON. I'm running high 10's on motor. I had a lot of runs on the stock diff... hundreds.

I'm sure I'll be fine then. I won't be leaving like you do that's for sure. I'm shooting for 1.70's.

My 10 SS has only been leaving one tire mark, the back end is very quick to dance around and I had someone watch to verify both tires are spinning. Only thing I can come up with is one side is spinning much faster than the other and the posi needs work.

Man I thought that track was gone. I used to run there a few times in the late 70's....

It is more common for a independent rear like the 5th gen to spin both tires over a solid axle car as the driveshaft turns a fixed diff and distributes the power evenly to both shafts.
Solid axle open diffs technically try to lift the passenger tire and push down on the drivers. That's why they pretty much always spin the right rear tire.
