Lets Clear up some VVT myths.....
VVT is a huge practical benefit as I run 14:1 in areas where I can find pump e85, and in remote country I swap tunes to run gasoline without knock or heat. Great mileage in both modes, retained the AFM, 27 MPG highway on e85.
Top tune e85 full advance gets 75% torque from 1500, 80% from 2000, peaks 500 ft-lb at 6035. Suits my stock stall, switched gears back to 2.92, almost zero spin with TruTrac, sports rubber and dual battery / Class 4 towbar weighting the rear:
