So I called and got a installed package price at straight line. Brian tooley racing cam stage 4. Springs rods retainer New oil pump and timing chain plus gaskets fluid install.2200. What do you guys think? Do you think the 25% under drive pulley is worth doing for $ to power?

Our Stage II N/A cam which makes tremendous power, does require additional piston to valve clearance and has great drivability along with our characteristic muscle car lope.

Our cams are only available via our built engines and/or installed at our shop in Saint Charles, Illinois.

I'd love to make the power of this cam. I just don't have fly cutting in the budget at this time. I rather just forge the bottom end instead of fly cutting the pistons. Can't really race the car right now any way as it still has stock axles and will just be waiting to break if I launch it once. Gears and axles will come next sEason considerin the axles are 1100 and the gears are 620 without installation of either.

I should have been more clear.

The NicKey Stage I Cam requires no removal of heads and no clearencing of the stock pistons. Johnny O's video / Car is our Stage I cam, LT headers, CAI, PTB. No head work, no piston work.

Our NicKey Stage II Cam requires piston clearencing and makes even more power.

The underdrive damper will help if you use a top quality damper like ATI because it will do its job, especially at higher RPMs. However the HP increase of a smaller pulley/damper is negligable, IMO.

I'm looking to be around the 500 range and I know to get there I have to do a spring kit on the heads for the cams I was looking at. I'm going to go talk to straightline tomorrow and see what they say. Brian tooley shop says the cam is capable of putting the numbers I'm looking for without fly cutting the pistons. It will be cam spring kit timing chain and new oil pump with full bolt ons. The car tuned 427 with bolt ons. I also got a used SLP under drive pulley for a good deal so I figure might as well do it since it is coming off for the cam any way. I also want a large lobey cam. I know the larger cans are less bottom end and that it makes for a dyno queen bUT really all I'm looking for is an amazing sounding cam with some really good numbers to go along with it. I don't want to race the car until I have enough money put back for axles and a rear end. Then I will replace the power I lost down low with nitrous. Was dead song on the gx3 due to the high numbers and holy hell sound it makes but the btr seems very similar just trying to make sure I will near my 500 hp range.

Proper springs always need to be matched to the cam being used.

I don't remember if you had a ported throttle body or not, but now is a good time to add it if you don't.

The reason I brought the springs up is when u said the heads didn't have to come up with the stage 1 cam you have. If I had the money for fly cutting I would Def be goin with a big ass cam. I've heard your stage 2 on a video and it sounded amazing and tab just as good as it sounded. I do have a ported throttle body. Thought about trading the stock heads for some ported ls3 but the $ to power aspect was a no go on that.

We always replace valve springs with a cam upgrade. You do not need to remove the heads in order to replace the valve springs.
