315/35/20 nitto nt05r

Hey guys the people at discount tire told my buddy recently that the car is too heavy for this tire and that the tire might blow out under high speeds. And they also told him to just get the nt05 because its basically the same as the R version. What do y'all think about this? I told him to go ahead and get it so now they don't want to mount to the tires because it won't be safe supposedly.

They are too wide for the stock wheel. You need to bring them to your local shop if you really want them on.

I'm running the NT05's now on my Forgeline's but there is a big difference as far as softness goes.

The R are a Drag radial, not approved for street use.

Yes that's why he got it. Lol. I'm just asking if anyone else has had this problem getting them installed on a Camaro with 20's. Their computer tells them its not safe because its too heavy and at high speeds the tire will blow out. I checked the specs on the nitto site and its max load is 16** lbs. Wouldn't the limit on the tire had to be a 6400+ lbs car?

The NT05R drag radial is D.O.T. approved for street use, at least in the USA.

People run them all the time hell I have them on my car. Most "experts" are just glorified monitor readers and have no idea what the hell they're talking about. I'm sure they tell you that because someone at headquarters wants to cover their azz. If you want a real answer call nitto and ask them if you're unsure but you would be fine.

Those guys must have worked at the local auto parts store prior to being employed to Discount. I've seen several cars run and my own run 150+ on the NT05R with no problems. Hell I was riding shotgun as my friend just over 200 mph in his 1200hp twin turbo Z06, car was stable and no problems with the NTO5R's.

Wrong. They are DOT approved.

I have this size tires. Been running them all year on my car. Done burnouts. Races. You name it. Tire holds up fine on my stock wheels

They told me the same thing and I ended up going with the NT05. They seem to work okay but I only got to use them once so far. I also heard that the NT05R does not last very long if you are using them as a daily driver.
