port stock ls3 heads or buy cnc ls3 heads
Is there any reason i should do one or the other. I feel like it would be cheaper to port stock heads instead of buying new ones

Sending your heads to be ported you have to package and ship them, wait around for a few weeks while not being able to drive your car then install them. And as far as price, it really depends on what you get. Either one can be more expensive than the other. GMPP heads are $1400 all together and after selling your old heads you would only be out $800...while most port jobs start around $1000 and don't include springs. |

Depends where and how you go about. CNC LS3 heads won't flow as good as having a good shop do custome specd ported heads. GPI has an amazing program ship yours in and they'll ship you some fresh ported ones.

I bought the GMPP heads from summit, factory porting cnc from gm for $1200, sure the springs on it are for a ASA low lift cam but the numbers for the heads outflow a lot of big name shops that are $$$$ more. Sure flow is not everything, but it is a LOT.... the heads come with hollow intakes and you will not find anyone offering ported heads complete for less, and then you spring them for your cam..... and no core charge.

A ported head will out flow a basic CnC head. trickflow and PRC both make a nice head for the LS3 or if your looking for a really nice one, Franknstein.
