Just great, now the check engine light came on. This is on the Chevy Volt they gave me as a loaner. If you ever lose your oil pump do not stop by and look. I cried inside when I saw all the crap they are doing to my car and all the body parts and other parts laying spread out over 2 bays.

They needed me to come by and give them the key to the wheel locks.

Another thing that is disconcerting is the fact that Melling makes a pump that works, while GM continues to push the same POS even on engines that have failed. I wonder what GM's reason for not installing a higher pressure pump is?

Also, going into the dealership for any warranty work is a hassle IMO, even a blown bulb.

That seems unnecessary unless they're dropping the whole motor. Seems unnecessary to drop the motor out of the car to replace the pump.

Hope it gets fixed quickly.

Why did they have to take off the wheels?

They have the engine being held up by the body frame and dropping the cradle to get to the oil pan.

Got the car back, no metal in the oil pan. Now just wait for the Type R to come out. They did dent up the inside quarter panels some from the weight if the engine. My piece of mind will just not be happy anymore since it has all been apart now and probable start to rattle or other issues. The also screwed the bumper down real tight and broke the paint around the bolt.

Every time I go in for 1 thing I end up with more messed up than before. I am probably to picky but that is just who I am.

Agreed with that statement.. did they give you anymore information on the failure (could they confirm it was indeed a relief valve issue)? What dealership was this? (PS if you think this couldn't happen at the Honda dealership, you're crazy... the techs are just people, whether they wear a chevy shirt one day and a Honda the next is all about who they submit their resume to). I wish you the best.

Some good information would be interesting and helpful. A lot of threads are light on info and heavy on complaining.

Valve was stuck. Debris in it could be seen. No metal in oil pan.

I am sorry to hear that. Did they just replace it for free? How's your oil pressure now?

Roger, I am assuming you're back up to full pressure? Do you notice any differences in PSI? Like if it was slowly getting worse or just a one day it worked one day it was gone thing. I like stats and trends and just wish I knew more about this issue.
