Very good description of your decision. I have not seen or driven the 6th gen, but looking at the SS, it looks cool, but not badass. It seems marketed to a different crowd , and is full of tech that will be quickly dated. I prefer the more sparse interior of the ZL1, just down to business and not tech laden just because that is what is cool at the moment. Todays cars are filled with gadgets that are exactly what I try to escape from when I go for a drive, so they make little sense to have in a car to me. Skip the internet connection and up the HP. Anyhow I also think you made the best choice. Congrats.

Congrats and welcome. I went through some of the same decisions. I ordered a '15 1LE last September and took delivery December 1st. I absolutely loved it, but it needed more power. I started looking at the Gen 6's and a possible '17 ZL1. But as you stated its not a raw muscle car anymore. So... I bought a '15 ZL1 and it's simply AWESOME JUST AWESOME!!! Again, post pics and enjoy.

Congrats. I also agree with the comments here. 6th gen is awesome and I'm a bit envious of its performance gains, but I'll take a mean looking 5th gen ZL1 any day.

You bought a MUCH MUCH better looking car! Not even close. From the windshield forward, the new Camaro looks good. But that back end and side view is just hideous from all angles.

I was kind of the same way. First test drive the 1LE then the 2SS, then once it got a little more in the 40's this past Janauray the dealer allowed the ZL1 out for a test drive. I was hooked. Went back to dealer gave him all the options I wanted , color and all and then....never heard back from him. Ended up ordering through another Dealer a brand new 15 ZL1 and then had to wait almost 5 months Well worth the wait and you will be very happy with your decision! Congrats to you and the wife ! Now pray for a very short winter here in Nebraska!

We got to Kansas about 11:45 am. My wife was already fried from 3 hours in the car with me obsessing over the ZL1. When we pulled in the car was sitting out shining like they painted it earlier that day. Black on Black on Black on Black. A few of the sales guys, and even the finance managers were standing around grinning. I got out looked the car over like a mail order bride! The guy that owned the car before me was one of US. He got it. The car was emaculant. Every bath had been a hand washed love bath, the tires were oiled and wet looking, the interior had been conditioned and smelled like new. I got in and about cried when my butt sank into the suede micro fiber seats. What a difference in comfort! The wheel felt confident and warm. I had my wife start the car as I paced around it, and it roared. It sounded better and louder than the Borla Attak I had put on my previous SS, which is a big plus since my 1.5 year old loves to hear the car rev. I had already done enough online research on the car and the "PTM" to earn a college credit. I was ready to do this sh*t. Everything about the car felt stronger. Breaks were very strong, steering felt NASCARISH and nimble. I pushed the pedal down about a quarter deep as soon as i hit flat pavement thinking i would get us up to the stop light before the light changed. Incorrect. Even at a quarter deep the tires began spinning and started to swing us sideways. I looked over at my wife, and she had the FML look on her face. We went for about a 20 minute drive and I have never fallen in love with a car so fast. Its incredible. I can't believe the power. Im in love with the magnetic ride, and the comfort of the seats. It looks like Darth Vader on steroids. The drive back to Lincoln was perfect. 50 degrees on December 12th, no wind, and clear roads. We took turns driving and pulled over to take pictures a few times. Im in heaven. No offense to the 16SS, but I can't believe they can call both of these cars Camaros. The ZL1 is the ultimate. Im part of TheClub! I have a ZL1!

Ya, I pretty much agree with that. Side is kinda chunky, and I don't understand the size of the new car. Its almost a little too "cute" for me. Doesn't look as nice as a ZL1, I don't think anyone would argue that.
