Get shorty headers with highflow cats for maximum gain and u still keep your warranty cause no tune.

That's the plan! LT mafia just can't accept shorties. All I really wanted was feedback on MBRP but thread got stolen!

Does anybody have an idea on how much HP and/or torque I might have gained with these parts installed? I put Borla stainless steel shorties on with JBA high flow cats, a resonator deleted full x-pipe and Borla ataks at the ends, feels good, don't sound too bad, the high flow cats, the V-Max & Vitesse made the most, seat of the pants difference. I don't know the total HP gain installing, shorties, high flow cats, x-pipe/no resonators, Atak mufflers, Cai,& jet air flow sensor, but it feels good.Next is a set of 3.91 gears.

I have the MBRP 3" cat back exhaust on my 2015 1SS LS3. However I'm still on stock headers. I've had MBRP on my last 2 trucks and it was by far the cheapest 3" 409 stainless kit with the x pipe that I wanted.

Cat-Back provide different exhaust tones and loudness. I added ARH 1-7/8" LTs to the MBRP with HF Cats and made something like 410-420, no tune. The exhaust drone was horrible at highway speeds so I replaced MBRP with full-ARH. Less drone and great sounding. That was 5 years ago, now, I'm trying to quiet the exhaust for auto-X noise restrictions and going backwards. Put back OE mufflers to ARH from axel back. Note: About 20 minutes between runs 2 and 3 to install CAI. Engine cooled down a bit. Last edited by sting808; 12-14-2015 at 06:27 AM. |

I have the 3 in mbrp with the resonator for the L99. Just installed long tubes, not shorties though. With the stock manifolds and csts, pretty tame exhaust. Nice low tone, not very loud. With the longtubes and hi flow cats, it has much more volume and a hint of growl when you rev it. Not obnoxiously loud. Just enough to put a grin on your face when you punch it.

MBRP are usually cheaper because they're 409 stainless where 304 is more rust resistant.
Probably a non issue for the most part.. I think everything I've read about MBRP generally has been very good. Never seen anything negative about them. |

Many exhaust companies offer 304 and 409. My original MBRP was 304. Hanger placement and fitment was excellent. I initially liked the MBRP low exhaust tone, but after adding the LT, the drone was bad. The 304 version was not cheap.
