Now, it remains to be seen how GM will respond to the GT350R. Especially considering the price point Ford is asking for that car. The regular GT350 is about is much as an optioned 1SS/2SS.
So retail would be 40k for the gt350?

I guess I missed where it was discussed that the tires were worn down?

or do they just 'look' worn down so we're going to use that and an excuse as to why it wasn't a closer race?

How can a tire look worn out but not be worn out...? There's no optical illusion to it... It's pretty obvious to spot when theres significant wear. This car is motor trends car that has been used and abused for testing and comparisons for a while now. It's safe to say it may not be running 100% like it did right off the showroom floor when they first got it.

I assume 3:35 is where you guys are thinking the tire looks worn? It looks like there's just some muddy dirt on there from the road driving, there's still plenty of tire.

If the gt350r was available to actually buy, this comparison might be more meaningful. I couldn't find one or a dealer that had a allocation. Then they wanted to rape the buyer for 6 to 15k above list.

So I bought a new z28 yesterday. If they were side by side and the same price, yeah I'd take the mustang. But we are talking unicorns vs a heavily discounted race car that can easily be had for $57k..

$.02

Yep. That's what happens with the latest and greatest vs yesterday's news so to speak. In 2014 most couldn't touch a Z/28 without paying a premium. When the ZL1 came out it was very hard to aquire and it carried a premium. Hell, I remember having a hell of a time getting a 2005 GT Mustang for MSRP when they came out. You didn't go wrong at all for picking up a Z/28 for current market prices though. Congrats!

I guess im just confused as to why you think they're worn. because they look worn in a shot on the video? when was that shot taken in relation to the hot laps? do they film them in order they're shown to us?

things like this are filmed out of the order they are shown to us in videos, same with movies. just because it appears in the video that they road test them first and then go directly to the track for hot laps is just an assumption that you're making.

so I would think its safe to say that if they were worn to the point they would affect performance it would have been stated.

That was some cringeworthy video right there, no matter what the outcome.

This X 1000000

Seems some people are reaching here trying to find any reason to discredit the outcome. If it was a mustang guy saying the same thing people would be all over him.

That mustang sounds AMAZING! What an awesome time to be a sports car enthusiast. I can't wait to see what GM has in store for the next Z/28.
