Mild backfiring in between shifts

My 2014 ZL1 gives a loud pop in between shifts. Factory catback. Stainless works headers. Is this normal?

Doesn't happen with my SS. Is this a forced induction thing?

Clutch fuel cutoff (CFCO) which behaves just like deceleration fuel cutoff (DFCO) is enabled on the '13 and up M6 ZL1s. It's disabled on the '12 M6 ZL1 and all models years of the M6 SS.

Mine does the same thing and I have the same setup. Got more pop on deceleration with the mild to wild I installed. So I'm pretty sure it's normal.

Assuming this is a feature that can be toggled, can you have your tuner turn this off if desired? Does anyone know the pros/cons of this setting? Or why GM left it off for '12s and earlier and then on for the '13s and up? FYI, I only notice it when I'm in a certain RPM range, 2,500 - 3,000 approximately. If I'm out of this range, I don't really notice any popping.

Yes, the CFCO can be tuned out. This thread has screenshots from HP Tuners showing the CFCO settings from the stock tune files of the '12 and '13 M6 ZL1.

I've asked the same question as to why GM would disable the function on the '12s but enable it on the '13s and up. It's the only difference in the stock tune file between the two model years.

I've driven my car with the CFCO enabled and disabled, and other than the popping between shifts I prefer it enabled. It does seem to smooth shifts and reduce jerking when the clutch is let out.

It happens in my SS all the time. It cackles and burbles constantly while shifting. An aftermarket exhaust really helps too! Love it!

Thanks for the info and glad someone already tried it both ways. Sounds like I'm gonna leave mine as is and not worry about it, don't mind it too much and prefer smoother shifts more than a little popping.

Has to be done in the tune with software like HP Tuners or EFI Live.

See the screenshots in this thread:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421304

You have to set the Enable ECT (engine coolant temp) to a reasonable value.
