P0008

My camaro is a 2010 with 81K on it but was an early off the line car as I drove her off the lot in November 2009. I just started popping the P0008 Timing code. Of course I am frantic since, if true, I have heard about huge $$$ to replace. Anyone have this happen to them? Is there anything else I could possibly look at? I know there was an extended for this engine but I can't find anything specific to the Camaro and it really sucks to have such a big job on something that really should not have happened already. I am reluctant to even go to the dealer and maybe stay local - Any help?

Jeff

Have the same issue for the second time now!

First one was covered under the power train warranty. The second time around the dealer is currently quoting $3,800. (Only about 30,000 miles apart) Disheartening to say the least.

Good luck!

That code is, Engine Position System Performance (Bank 1). I would try and find a good local mechanic shop. Good luck!

Replacement failing after only 30k? I could contact GM directly.

Not another one, shop around, its not that high to repair chains on a rear drive.
Maybe they were quoting the Acadia, where the engine needs to be pulled.

Does anyone happen to know if there is any success in retaining legal counsel with regards to this issue? I am currently at the point that I would consider giving my money to a lawyer rather than paying to have my car fixed for the second time just because this is ridiculous.

I don't think it's hard to replace a timing chain on a rear wheel drive car. No special tool was required, When I overhaul a head gasket/chain replacement on a Mercedes.
