20" radials vs 18" & 17" radials 600+rwhp
How much difference in the 1/4 is 17 or 18" wheel with drag radials going to make in the 1/4 vs a 20" drag radial? Is it just the traction that gets better or does the smaller wheels make the car a lot quicker? Not really concerned about the traction aspect seeing as that I'm running on my stock axles this year and too much would probably break something. Would definitely appreciate anyone with before and after results between the wheel sizes. Thanks

The biggest variable to that question is if you have an auto or manual. The auto can hook 1.6 60' easy with 20 radials. The manuals are more challenging and Benifit from 17-18" wheels

I have a manual, sorry forgot to mention that. That's good to know. What about the car bogging off the line, is that made easier with a smaller tire setu? This is my summer dd btw

Typically 20" tires have stiff sidewalls.
If you went to a 17" drag radial or slick they would have softer sidewall. Of course they also are made with rubber compounds that break down quicker to create traction.

So Is it possible to break in to the 10s on 20" 555r radials with a 200 shot on a hci motor with the stock axles and diff?

IMO 555Rs won't hook well enough, but you never know go for it.

yeah i guess I'll have to see they dead hooked with my bolt-on setup, but I'im sure it's going to be a whole different story with this new engine setup. not being able to hook maybe a good thing too if im on stock axles

You will need some 20" Mickeys or NT05R's to go 10's, 555r's are a harder compound and don't hook as well, but 10's on 20's isn't an issue, my friends A6 runs 10.30's with Mickeys and I have been 10.70's with a M6 and 20" Mickeys, but I also run a lot quicker with 17's which it the way to go for a M6 or 15" conversion it you can swing it.

I grudge race, when I'm done I will. My friends A6 10.31 slip on 20" Mickeys can be found here (10.310 @ 133.97), but he didn't post his slip on the fast list either and here's another care on 20" running 10.0's on here and to my surprise he did it with 555r's, must have been some killer track prep, (10.04 @138 on stock 20s), look them for 20" times.

20" radials vs 18" & 17" radials 600+rwhp
17-18" rim and tire combos weigh less so you're reducing rotating mass and dropping a few pounds off these heavy ass cars.
You should pick up about a 1/10th going from 20's to 17's. Plus you get more bite out of the larger sidewall tired so you can launch harder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow I didn't realize traction would be that big of an issue with these tires at that hp level. Once it's in the budget I'll have to go with some 17's. With the 20's what rpm do you guy's recommend leaving the line at?
