Clutch issues, need advice on where to proceed next

Let's start with I called the customer service line after all this, and they are not helpful. They are following up with the dealer.

I've been having issues with my 2011 Camaro SS 6M being very notchy going into gears, all of them. It feels like the clutch is not disengaging, and this is even more noticeable when I push the clutch to the floor and pull it out of 1st and 2nd gear. On occasion you can feel the car "release" into neutral. If the clutch is disengaged, it shouldn't physically jerk when I pull it out of gear.

Anyways, we all know that the clutch needing bleeding is a fairly common occurrence on these cars. No problem, that's a drivetrain issue, warranty, we'll let them take care of it.

First excuse I get is that the car has a "performance shifter" and will be notchy. Yeah, no. But I'll wait for it to get worse because I'm sure it will.

Last night, I drop it off. Take the service writer for a test drive. (He was looking for the manual transmission fluid dipstick, so I don't exactly think he's the brightest but whatever.) Today I get a call that the clutch is shot, $1800 parts/labor.

I ask if the slave cylinder is covered under warranty. No. Ughhh... my manual says it is. If it's not disengaging, it's a master or slave issue. If it's not disengaging, it's also going to wear my clutch prematurely.

Lady I spoke with at customer care said even if the slave cylinder is the problem, the clutch is not covered under warranty. So I ask if a balljoint went bad and caused my tires to wear, would it be covered under warranty? She said the dealership would have to answer that, not her. I said well the dealership just told me that my slave cylinder wasn't covered under warranty when my warranty book says it is, so I called the number in the book and got her.

What's my options here? She is calling the dealer, but I see this going no where where it currently stands. Is my line of thinking wrong here, that if the slave cylinder caused an issue that the clutch should also be replaced?

If I can convince them it's a slave cylinder issue, should I just buy an aftermarket clutch and let them bill the labor to warranty?

Anyone else I can talk to that might have some common sense? Or am I wrong with my diagnosis on the clutch needing bled/design issue/slave cylinder/whatever causing the thing to shift hard in all gears?

Car has 46000 miles on it. Not like I'm trying to get a clutch out of them with 80K on it.

Edit: The dealer included the slave cylinder in that $1800. If it's not bad, why are they wanting to replace it?

Just curious, are they charging you that they took apart the transmission to determine the clutch is Shot? If so, I'm on the same boat..

This is typically a problem with the slave cylinder which is going to be part of a clutch install. The slaves can take a dump before the clutch needs to be replaced. You probably don't need a clutch but they will have to take it all apart to get to the slave anyway. This was a problem on the GTOs and CTS-Vs as well. We assumed just because of the weight of the vehicles its rougher on them, but nevertheless it is still the usual suspect. You can try to bleed it but that will only band aid if do anything.
I seriously doubt they are going to cover the slave under anything but the bumper to bumper warranty, its shit but that the direction its looking.

Didn't there used to be a rep that was on here?

Make sure to order a new slave cylinder if the kit didn't come with one. Typically clutch kits don't come with the slave.

If you haven't already, speak to the Hendrix Engineering folks about their street slayer twin clutch. You won't be sorry.

Can't get anyone from GM to contact me back, including the customer service guy that is on the forum.

Dealer emailed me a generic thing, said they'd follow up in 24 hours, never did.
