Yep, I did all the mods at the same time so it was real obvious going from stock manifolds/mufflers to headers/muffler delete.

No drone on my L99 SS and quiet as can be inside. Remember, these Camaros come
NO unibody insulation. Did from the seats back, Full floor, 1/4's, W/Hsgs, etc. Worth
every penny imo.
Good to know. I guess, if it gets too loud, I'll be doing the same thing. Out of curiosity, have you had a chance to compare the noise before and after putting that insulation in, without other mods making an impact on the noise levels? Did you do just the floor behind the front seats?

Lol^. Muffler delete with stock manifold and cats actually sound really good. Not as loud as some would think. Just do it, it's cheap, and sounds just as good as most axel backs on the market today. In my opinion.

No, like I said I did EVERYTHING from the B pillar back even the inside of the 1/4 panels. My J/pipes keep getting louder as time goes by (carbon build up) but they are not over the top. Never did a comparison but for the low cost and 3-4 hours time it was well with it. Also I insulated for outside road noise for my long interstate trips, not necessarily to reduce the exhaust noise.

After reading this thread, I decided to do the muffler delete. Brought it to an exhaust shop yesterday and I am happy with the way it turned out (everything else is stock), not as loud as I thought it would be but I love the way it growls when I start it up. I haven't noticed excessive drone while at cruising speed....

How much did you pay? A local guy wanted $220 to do mine.

Should be around $100. A lot of people get it done even cheaper like $60. But I got mine done for $100 but also bought quad tips that he welded on.

I paid $120 for mine which I thought was a decent price considering they cut the factory tips and used them on the new exhaust.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind paying $120, but I thought $220 was ridiculous. Glad I didn't do it.

Would you or someone else be able to elaborate on the statement regarding your "j" pipes getting louder as time goes on? I just don't understand the reason why carbon build up would result in a louder sound. So far, I got mine done last spring and up until I put it away for winter, I didn't notice any change although it hasn't been nearly as long as yours has been on....

Just curious

I love mine , all stock except for delete. No drone what so ever and don't even hear it at cruising speed. Sometimes I even wish it was a little louder but not sure about it once headers go on.

solo high flow cats will give you better sound then headers.

Again, I was one of the first with the Solo J/pipes. At first I was a little disappointed by the small difference in sound on my SS.
Well not any longer ! They are at the point of being almost excessive imo. When I posted this on camaro5 a while back someone
chimed in and said it was carbon build up. I don't disagree as i cannot think of anything else that cold cause the increase in sound.

You always bring up carbon buildup lol. I really don't think that will do anything on a muffler delete lol. Mine hasn't gotten any louder over these past couple years and that just doesn't make sense
