Doesn't bother me a bit if a LT is modded to look like an SS, I want a ZL1 fascia after all.

Guys lose me when they start playing with badging, though. I'm not a fan of that.

Really guys, seriously no one cares about your badge and for those that care, it does not matter anyway because you are so into the car thing that you can't be fooled. Honestly most peeps don't know the difference. I still have to Google our hierarchy up to very recently. While washing my cars today, a neighbors kid that is all grown up now pulled up with his black on black Hemi Charger and asked me if it is a-a a- a-- ( he did not even know what it should be but he knows there is something out there) So I helped him out and told him "No it is a V6". My point is that even a 20 something year old kid in his own Hemi Charger (which he bought himself) doesn't even know our hierarchy. And mind you the only mod on my car is the NPP exhaust and ZL1 diffusser (If you call that a mod) which he couldn't see because the car was facing the road. But trust me, I see how a ZL1 guy can be pissed if someone up badges. Whether you believe it or not people sometimes buy certain things to achieve significance not only because they like it. So I guess it could be annoying seeing someone achieve the same effect without having paid the price you paid. I am just thinking if a regular Valkrie motorcycle badged itself a Rune if I would care: Don't know, that involves too much time thinking about the other guy.

I do find it funny that it's usually the V6 owners who are the ones generally doing the most cosmetic changes, like adding ZL1 bumpers, etc. (for the most part).

That said, there's nothing wrong with that at all. Cool is cool, and as long as you like it, then who cares? I'm all for more variety. Do what you want to do to your car for yourself, no one else.

For me I was adding NPP mufflers. When the dealer ordered the first diffuser it was wrong (same thing I already have) so the next parts guy said to order the ZL1 that it was the same and will definitely fit. So that is how I ended up with it. Personally I don't give a rats tail about a ZL1. If I wanted one or better still if I even knew what it was at the time I bought my car, I would have gotten it if that was what I wanted but since it wasn't I did not. This forum is what has opened my eyes because here we have people who actually give a rats rear end. The next question might be, why NPP well because I saw a V6 with it from the factory and even posted a video here.

There are a few problems here, but I do see a common denominator on both sides of the camp here, lol.

The vast array of modders are quarrelling amongst themselves, lol!

Here is where the vast majority of you belong, http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205052.

Your car looks good. As long as you aren't trying to pass it off as something it isn't I'm fine with it. Not that my opinion matters, its your car. I used to drive an AMG and it drove me crazy to see cars with an AMG badge because the owner only had AMG wheels or some nonsense.

Mercedes started slapping AMG badges on anything- a couple plastic bits and some wheels- slap a badge on it. They got a little crazy with that for a while.

Very good point, on diluting the AMG brand.

F people who don't like the way yr car looks. I would suppose as long as you don't mark it or emblem as another version would be a little to far.

Here's my view on the subject: It's your car and you can do whatever you want to it. It's kind of a broad subject and people can get VERY opinionated over it...but I'll elaborate on my thoughts a little more.

The average person (non car fanatic) isn't going to know/care about what we drive. Sure, they may see a Camaro and think it's cool but they likely won't know the trim level, engine, options, MSRP, etc. The way I see it, people alter the appearance of their cars for 3 reasons.

1.) They want the prestige of a higher trim level but can't afford it. Posers and up-badgers fit into this category.
2.) They want to clone a car that's unobtainable to them (Think '69 ZL1, Ford GT40 or my favorite.. a '68 L023 Hemi Dart!) Lots of clone cars roam the streets. Some are good, some are much less than good...
3.) Ya just want it to look different. This is where most of us fall, IMO. We mod because we like it and want to be different from the crowd, or perhaps we just want to add some options that our cars didn't come with.

I think the first example is what most of us have a problem with. Upbadgers and posers. Some people just have to feel like the coolest cat in town, even if it means lying to people who know what they're talking about. I went to high school with a guy who told me that his V6 Mustang (He claimed it was a V8, it wasn't...) made 420 horsepower at the wheels and it was "chipped" and had a cold air intake...lol. My friend and I just started laughing and then we explained to him, in great detail, why that was a load of horse sh*t. He just assumed we would believe him but instead we schooled him about engines and cars in front of his friends. That guy was a complete tool, I don't miss high school. Moving on...clone cars. There are some amazing clones out there and I don't often see people try to pass them off as the real thing. I know some people aren't so honest but some people want to build their dream car that'd cost 6 or 7 figures if it was real and not a clone. Building a clone car is a great way to get into your dream car (look alike, at least) for a fraction of the cost. I don't see a problem with this. Kinda gettin' a little bit tired of all the Shelby Cobra kit cars though..

Most of us who mod our cars don't try to pass them off as something they aren't. I've seen a lot of people on here put ZL1 bumpers on their non Zl1 cars and haven't seen a single person try to pass it off as a Zl1. I think on this forum there's a general consensus that it's not cool to be a poser. I like the way y'all are The best part of modding isn't making your car look like a different trim level though.. it's making your car unique to you! I love my LS and i'd never try to pass it off as anything else but I'm upgrading it to have things I wanted but couldn't afford. Already have a short throw shifter and throttle controller, ZL1 diffuser came in today, 4" quad tips are happening tomorrow, I'm going to get some ZL1 wheels too, and a Z/28 spoiler. A 1LE steering wheel is on the list too. At the end of the day it'll still be my same old 1LS, it'll just look a whole lot more pissed off.

I value individuality more than prestige. In the end I don't really think it matters what people do with their own cars. My car is an extension of me and I want it to be representative of who I am and what I like, regardless of whether other people approve of it or not. It just feels good to drive a Camaro

I think a lot of people think my car is a poser. I knew before I even chose the Camaro over the Challenger that I wanted a white car with matte black hood.
You can think what you want, but my car is what I wanted.
