Strange squeaking after TSP LT install

Hey guys.

Need help because this is driving me crazy. Saturday I installed my TSP Long tubes with off road connections. The car has no cats, no resonators and currently no mufflers and it just ends under back of the car. Its crazy loud. I eventually will be doing some sort of muffler but anyway... Since the install I have a pretty loud squealing coming from somewhere. It does not seem to do it during idle. if I hold it around 2k while not moving it pretty much holds the squealing constant. if im under load it does it too. It does it also when I let off the gas but when I put the clutch back in, it squeaks and then goes away. Its driving me nuts because even tho the car is stupid loud, all I hear is that ****ing squeak. Anybody ever have this issue? It makes me not want to drive the damn car and since its my only car its ruining the whole new header experience. Please help!

I just took a quick look while smoking a cigarette outside my job.. I cant start it bc my boss will hear it and bug out that im on the clock. Only thing I noticed was maybe my dipstick tube is extremely close to one of the header bolts. Anyone have this issue? im really praying its something simple. I don't think its a gasket issue because it doesn't sound like a header leak like my old 01. its just an annoying squeak / chirping sound

Have someone rev the car so you can pinpoint the location. Is the rest of the exhaust laying on the brace under the car by chance? Exhaust leak?

I thought it may have been the brace also but I put washers in to add even more space and the squeak is still there. I was revving it a little for my warehouses mechanic and he said he couldn't tell where it was coming from and how sound travels. hes pretty useless. All of my clamps are tight and I don't think theres any leaks.

Sounds like you have some sort of exhaust leak somewhere in the system. I had a leak that appeared at higher rpms because one of my clamps wasn't properly positioned on the pipes. With as much as you're hearing, sounds like something is very badly leaking.

I had to remove my brace and dimple a header to stop the squealing. Your exhaust flexes as your engine moves so it might be rubbing somewhere. I had to remove mine to pinpoint the problem and then reinstall. No more squeal!

My brace is also removed. I'd tweak the exhaust, tighten it up, and it'd move again in a couple days just from normal driving.

I have this same exact setup and from what I could guess is if your looking into the engine bay on the passenger side header on the bend that goes past that brace that goes under the car rubs against that brace. There is a very slight gap of light when the pipes are cold but when they heat up I'm sure that gap closes. It's weird I was worried about the same thing but after a while the noise just stopped

Mine seems to be coming from the driver side though. Or maybe I just think that bc that's where I sit and hear it. its a lot louder when I have someone next to me on the driver side that's why I think its not the passenger. I will take a look at what you guys are saying tho. Could a header leak be a squeal? Like, maybe I should try swapping another gasket in there? My last Camaro when it had a header leak was more of a thump, no squeal. Im at a loss lol.

Just ordered new gaskets. Gonna swap them out this weekend just to rule out any leaks there. Then ill move my focus to where the headers meet my cat deletes. I hear that's another problem area. Also gonna pick up some new band clamps for them since I reused the old ones and want to rule that out as well. I don't see any other areas that look like rubbing or too close although the passenger side is hard to see since theres so much crap over there.

The TSP 1 7/8" headers touch in one spot on the passenger side on the frame. We typically preemptively massage the primary that touches the frame there so it won't touch. This usually doesn't cause a "squealing" though, more of a rubbing sound.

Most squealing sounds usually come from the exhaust touching / rubbing heat shields underneath the car.

Thanks for the info. Do you a pic of where the "massaging" needs to be done? I don't hear any rubbing but to be honest, all I listen to right now is that damn squealing. Ill try to get under there and see if any heat shields are too close

If you bought your headers brand new there should be a "notch" where the driver side headers goes around the streering shaft, other than the streering Shaft I've heard nothing about any rubbing issues on the driver side

Well thanks for the info guys. I swapped out the driver side gasket and readjusted the cat delete clamps and now all Is well. Im thinking it was just the clamps below but I swapped the header gasket for the hell of it. No more squeaks, just sweet, sweet straight piped mayhem now. Thanks guys
