Happy New Year Guys!
I could not find a clear information and thus decided to put this question over here. My engine is L99 (2012 Camaro 2SS). I see my engine's heads have casting # 823. Q to L99 owners: do you have the same heads on your L99? Any difference from LS3 heads (I found that Ls3 has the same #): http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ight=823+block Thank you camarads!

yes to answer ur question the heads r the same casting #s but the difference in the LS3 versus the L99 is the LS3 have bigger valves and all ports are slightly bigger so they flow better i switched from a L99 to the LS3 conversion and did the r6060 swap as well

L92/LS3/L99 are all the same head casting. Same port sizes, chamber size, valve size.. There were a couple casting numbers used over the years... but are the same and interchangeable.
The differences are the springs and valves. LS3 uses a stiffer spring, and lighter hollow valve. The difference in compression between the 3 engines is due to the valve reliefs in the piston. LS3 is a flat top piston, and has the highest compression and hp. The VVT engines require piston valve reliefs. So, you just need to match the spring and valve to the engine it is going on. |
