Smile New 2015 SS

Just bought a new 2015 2SS/RS, Auto Summit white, polished aluminum wheels. Moved up from my 2LT/RS. Got 15% off MSRP and trade in value for my car. Not a great deal but a good deal. They are getting in short supply in my area and I'm picky so I had to pull the trigger. I would feel better if I could have gotten another grand or two off but this was the best I could do. I did this because I wanted to move into the V8 and I gotta say on the 2016 I love the front end, can live with the rear, and am less than excited about the side view. I know they are going to be quick but that side view does nothing for me. Maybe I'll get used to it. I just really love the Gen 5. I'm 59 so this may be my last one. I do have to say after driving the LFX V6 for over a year that I thought the V8 would be quicker. It's quick and I couldn't really get on it because it's so cold the tires would just spin but I was thinking more about how impressed I was with the LFX than the L99. I'm sure when I can stand on it I'll notice more but I will never knock a V6 owner. My trade in was a nice ride.

Congrats on the new ride! I have a 2010 L99 in summit white and I have really enjoyed it over these last 5 years. All I can tell you is my car really came alive after I installed the intake, headers, and a tune. I know these things void the warranty, but boy did it make a big difference in this car. I am not very impressed with the look of the new 6th Gen either and they seem to be very over priced also. Looked at a white 2SS on the local lot a few days ago and the MSRP was $49k. I have a feeling there will be a BIG sale on these come the end of 2016...

I too went from V6 to V8 and agree the 6 has plenty of power, but give the SS time to break in,on the hiway it will go from 65 to triple digits in a blink of the eyecongrats on the new ride, not a fan of the 16 either

Wait a minute.. 65 to triple digits on the highway!?! That's irresponsible, street racing, cop hating talk!

Maybe he just forgot to mention that the highway was in Mexico.

Congrats on the new ride! Yes, I agree with you about the new Gen6 side profile... really doesn't it for me either. Maybe its just me, but, I used to watch cartoons in the late 90's with my brother and the Gen 5 profile remindes me of the batmobile from Batman The Animated series from those years As for the difference in engine... give it a couple rides/days for the engine to break in and expecially for the brakes to rough up the rotors/pads...there is a definite difference once everythign has settled. As previously mentioned, on the highway, the V8 can easily take you from 60 to 100 in a short spurt and little effort...VERYnice feeling!!

I also went from a V6 to a V8 recently. I had the 2014 V6 base model and upgraded to a 2015 2SS RS. I did that because the dealership had the 2015 2SS RS as a black Friday special and I couldn't pass up the deal they had, and I really wanted the V8. I had the V6 for about 1 year and I love the V8! I can say from experience that it does go from 65 to 110 very easily!

I own a v6 as well and test drove a very well priced 2013 L99 this weekend and was very underwhelmed. I was expecting two different worlds and to be honest I felt the torque a little but thats about it. Let us know if you feel any different after driving it for a while

I also went from a 2LT V6 to a V8 mine is a 2013 2SS Hot Wheels Special edition, I found it in late 2014 still sitting bran new at a local dealer. Since the car had been on the lot a year and the 2015 models were arriving at the time I was able to get a heck of a deal on this car even getting higher than Kelley Blue Book on my LT. As far as the 6 Gen they are nice but I don't like them nearly as much as the 5th Gens . Do not care for the large open lower grill or the round interior ducts in front of the console. Mine is parked for winter but looking forward to spring

Just did the same thing a little over a week ago. I traded a truck but I have owned a few 6 cylinders (4th gen) in the past. Great cars but always wanted the 8. Super happy with my new ride for sure. I'm 53 so I think another one or two in my future. Maybe even a Vette in 5 years or so when my second mid-life crisis kicks in!

Anyway, congrats and enjoy your new ride. I promise it won't be long and you won't miss your 6.

Same here. I just upgraded from a 1LT to a 2SS and expected it to be night and day. It was more like night and dusk. Once I used up the dealer's cheap gas and put in some 93 octane I felt a little more pep. I did the fuse pull and it runs a lot smoother. As others have said, I feel the biggest difference when I'm already moving and accelerating to a higher speed.

By contrast, when mine was being worked on I used a loaner Camaro from the dealership. That was a V6 and it had more teeth than my V-8 (or my old V-6 had). I don't know if it was because it had been well-broken in or if they'd done some modifications to it, but the difference was so great that I opened the hood when I got home just to make sure it still had a V-6. I guess what I'm saying is that the potential for speed is there, is just has to be unlocked.
