The G8 uses the LY7 3.6 liter V6.

It makes between 260 and 280 horses or so depending on application, and uses sequential fuel injection.

The Camaro uses the LLT 3.6 liter V6.

It makes 304 horses and uses spark ignition direct injection.

They are based on the same engine family and happen to have the same displacement, but thats where the similarities end.

The LLT is shared by the Cadillac CTS but nothing else.

my friend also says the camaro v6 has no 304 hp because the same engine in the cts is advertised as having mid 200 hp. which it is. why?

Come on man, enough with the "my friend says". The following is taken directly from the Cadillac site. If you can access Camaro5, you can access Google.

Your friend's an idiot. Quit using him as a resource for information regarding GM vehicles.

Camaro V6 = 3.6L SIDI High-Feature LLT V6. 304 HP, 273 lb/ft torque.

CTS base V6 = 3.6L High Feature V6. Note lack of SIDI. This engine is rated at 263 HP.

CTS is also available with the 3.6L SIDI HF LLT V6, same engine as the Camaro.

I stand corrected. Again. I think that's 2 strikes, Xanthos. One more post of you saying something smarter than I did, and I'm putting you on the list. Consider yourself warned!

Also remember that the CTS with the 304hp engine probably costs you $45,000. We got a bargain with the 2010 camaro.

i did a lot of research on the engine and it is the same as CADILLAC CTS.. .. but, in a CTS u have to pay an extra 2000$ to get the same engine as the camaro does.. its nice to see that the standard V6 camaro has a better engine than the base CADILLAC CTS
