146......in Mexico!

She was still pulling strong, I'm pretty sure GM could've had the stock LS3 5th gens running 165-170 all day long with no limiters and maybe a few adjustments

I'm not crazy about the way my car feels at 125+. Lots of front end lift and feels floaty. I do have the '14 hood vent ready to install, so hopefully that will help. I'm lowered 1.25" and have ZL1 sways.

110 feels great, 130...pretty sketchy.

I have a story involving my Neon, a drunk driver and a State Trooper that would blow your minds. BUT it might be considered street racing ... even though the trooper was on my side :P

Well, do tell! I love a good story!

In fact, I'll open the bidding... a previous post mentioned Lingenfelter inadvertently changing lanes on a pass attempting 200 MPH. I can relate.

Years ago, a friend stopped by the house. Her dad had just bought her one of those new Merkur XR4Tis (go ahead, date that!). She being wild and reckless wanted ME to see how fast the car would go. I had a reputation as a fast driver, and an offer like this could not be passed up. Hell no. I don't even if know if the mature version of me could have said no to that.

We hit Highway 101, and I was gittin' her up to speed. The needle was sort of hovering at 139, but I needed to see it reach the next clean number of 140, so my foot was in it. We entered a slight rise in the road, which also had a slight curve to it... and holy freakin' soiled underpants if we did not leave the ground in one lane, and touch back down in the other. It was a pretty soft landing; we did not even scrape or bounce too badly... my passenger thought it was simply awesome autocross- style driving, and, to this day, she still thinks that. I am the only person in that car who knows that this was the most unintentional lane change imaginable. And I don't know how SHE did not figure that out, since I am sure that I was spraying perspiration in a thick cloud from my every pore.

I backed out of it, and declared the top speed to be 139 MPH.

OK, but if this thread gets locked/removed, I warned you:

I should first say that this was at 4AM and we were in a rural (country) area of the county, so there were only three cars on the road-me, the Trooper and the drunk.

I was heading home from work in my Neon and got behind a drunk driver (he was sooo obvious). I kept my speed down, so I could follow him and hopefully flag down a local running traffic on the highway. Turns out there were NO cops all the way home, so I decided to follow him one more exit, just in case. Well, still no cops, so I exit the highway and lo and behold, TWO State Troopers sitting there.

I ask them if they want to get a drunk and one says hell yeah and tells me to lead on. We get back on the highway and soon we're doing ~115 mph, SIDE BY SIDE. At that speed, we soon catch up to the drunk and I pull ahead just enough so he can see me flash my hazard lights, then I back off. His lights come on and he stops the car. I pulled in behind the Trooper and he lets me stand just out of camera range to watch.

This guy couldn't even stand up, he was totally bombed so I didn't get to watch too much since the field sobriety tests didn't take long.

All in all an awesome night: I caught a drunk before he hurt someone, I got to find out my car's max speed WITH a State Trooper's permission and I got to run side by side with a State Trooper at triple digits and NOT get in trouble

Nice!

I know we're pushing the boundaries here on this forum, but, technically, this isn't illegal street racing, so... I'll keep it going.

I had a similar experience. Almost got hit by a guy who was so freakin' drunk that he was running off of the shoulders of BOTH sides of the highway. It became personal very quickly. I followed, got on the phone with 911. Took a while, but eventually they coordinated with a unit, connected me directly, and we worked on meeting up.

By this time, we were in the Interstate. Copper set up way ahead of us, and waited. I updated him on our position and speed so he could estimate when we'd meet him. By the time we DID, the drunk and I were doing well over 100 MPH. CHP came up fast behind us, inserted himself behind ol' boy, and lit him up.

Drunk boy finally made his way to an offramp, but did not have the skills to avoid plowing into a car stopped at the red light at the end of the ramp. Nobody hurt, so I felt no guilt in laughing my ass off at this chump. Cops had to pour him out of the car... he sort of slithered out of the seat, but could not stand up. Sure, I feel bad for the people in the car that got hit (again: No injuries!), but that beats the hell out of him going head- on into a minivan full of kids.

And, yes... it was pretty bitchin' to be doing triple digits, with CHP behind me... and end up with nothing more than handshakes, backslaps, and thanks from the cops for helping to get that f'n jerk off the road.
