If you use ZFX with those polishes, and do the minimum 1/2 hour cure time... 3 coats doesn't take too long at all.

FYI to all, I tried picking up a cheapie (150 mph) leaf blower for my first wash since I didn't have any towels & was still debating which way to go. It got the job done, but was painfully slow (being used to using the waterblade).

If you're interested in going the hairdryer route, I'd recommend the bigger blower (210+ mph).

I'm going to see how the Mr Clean filtered wash performs & figure out what I'm going to wind up doing from there, but FYI Lowe's has a 12 amp "task force" 230 mph blower for $45.

Turtle Wax - Ice !

I was going to ask some of the seasoned veterans around here about the ICE product. I have used it for about a year on my 02 Red Trailblazer with good results. How do the Zaino products compare to the ICE or similar products (ie. liquid...easy removal polishes)?

4. Begin polishing. A good coat of Meguires or Mothers wax every 6 mo. for a daily driver is sufficient.

I don't use "sealer" waxes. If using wax, I prefer to do a car every 3 months.

Also, be sure and use good quality wash mitts (sheepskin or chenile) as well as towels for drying/polish removal.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hey Moose,
For step 3: I saw in a later post youn mention good quality towels for drying, what do you think about chamois for this instead?
Thanks

Zaino

Just finished doing the whole Zaino thing on my new Camaro. Claybar (scary at first, but really easy) made the paint like glass. Now after 2 coats of Z5 and 1 coat of Z2, the difference is amazing. People stop and ask me what I used to make it look wet. I never got that with any other products I've used on my vette. THANKS Zaino.

Question

After Zaino made the car look ridiculously shiny, what do you suggest I do after 4 or 5 days of dust buildup on the finish. Do I have to wash it or can I Z7 it?

The Z-7 is the Zaino car wash. I would wash it again just to be safe but if you can't I believe you could just Z-6 the whole thing as long as there isn't too many loose impediments on your finish

My bad. Z6 is the detailer spray. OK. I thought wash was probably right just because of the loose dust particles. Thanks.

Can you also use the zaino interior cleaner for the plastics (like the door panel, etc)?

Are you looking for protection for the painted plastic area of the door on the 5th Gen.?

If so, I'd actually put of coat of Z-5 on it.

To clean it, I'd doubt it would be very dirty. But, to clean it, I'd fill a small bucket with some car wash soap, soak a 100% cotton small towel, and lightly clean the surface. After allowing it to dry, I'd add a coat of polish.

(Thats what I'd d to my 5th Gen. )

* I'd be very careful in choosing what to use, as well as how you use anything on the plastic. It's not as "hard" a surface/finish as the exterior paint surface. You NEVER want to use anything harsh, nor do you ever want to "scrub", use much pressure, in cleaning the interior surfaces.

Ed,

I just bought an SS and some Zaino. Sorry I'm a bit confused as I have several different products in my box.

1) Can I use the blond towels offered by Zaino to wash the car? And then one to dry it?

2) Can I go ahead and was the car with Z7 tomorrow? I will not have time to clay etc until Sunday.

3) What is the ZFX & Z6 used for? Why are there two different polishes? Can you give me a break down of what process will be best?

Thank you!

Let's see;

1) I'd recommend either a chenile or sheepskin wash mitt for washing. Use the blond towels for drying and polish removal.

2) I would wash the car just prior to claying.

3) ZFX is used with either Z-2 or Z-5 to decrease the drying time required for the polish. You add 4 drops per ounce. Z-2 Show Car Polish is used as a final step after using Z-5 Swirl Mark Remover. Z-6 is a Spray Detailer, which you can apply between coats of polish, or use to remove light dust.

The process I would recommend is;

1. Wash car
2. Leaving car wet, begin claying
3. After claying entire vehicle, wash again and dry
4. Apply 1 to 2 coats of Z-5, based on your satisfaction that swirls, etc., are hidden/removed.
5. Apply 1 coat of Z-2 to add a final coat of protection and provide a final "wet" look.

Please let me know if you have any more questions/concerns.

Ed
