Moving Thud In The Back Of My Car
Hi,
I bought my 2015 Camaro LS Coupe last week. It was used with 2900 miles on it and had a clean carfax. If anybody remembers, I talked about never driving fast. After a while I decided to "Romping My Engine for Once" lol previous thread. I noticed on the streets, when I shift. When my car has a good jolt of power. I hear a thud in the back. I kept hearing it frequently. I can add more description tomorrow when I drive to Work. Today, I heard it again. When I parked. I thought ehh its my jack or my spare tire. I decided to just check in the back. The ****ing battery is in the back lol. That crazy I never knew that lol. But my battery is tightened down, so its not moving. It was too dark to check under the car, but do I even have a spare tire? My real question, Has anybody every heard this thud in the car when you shift? sincerely, Germy2011 |

It's a bowling ball left in the trunk or back seat by the previous owner.

My car makes a clunk sound when I press in the clutch sometimes at low speeds. It's normal and is caused by slack in the drivetrain when you press in the clutch.
If you're cruising along in first gear, foot OFF the clutch pedal, and you can give it throttle and it causes a thud/clunk noise then that might be a problem. But if it's just when you press in the pedal while coasting or something, that's normal and you shouldn't worry about it. This will be more apparent at lower speeds such as the 1-2 shift or when you're in first gear and you come to a stop. |

Regarding the thud, I occasionally hear it when I am rolling to a stop, when the tank is between 1/2 and 3/4 full. However, I do not hear it under acceleration (or shifts), as engine/ road noise out- holler the sloshing sounds... wondering if it's even a u-joint with a little too much play in it? Let your Mother in Law out of the trunk..Of course, by this time you're pretty much screwed either way.
