69 Camaro Glass vs Fixed Plastic vs Plastic Zippered Convertible Top Window

I'm working on getting my 1969 Camaro Convertible restored and I need to know what sort of window I've got.

Wondering if anyone has any insights as to the differences between the 3 options for replacement on the market right now. (Glass window, Fixed Plastic, and Plastic Zippered Window)

Thanks,

I can't speak to Camaro specifically, but GM used zippered plastic in most cars of that era. I decided to stay with that in my 67 since it was original and the rear window section can be serviced separately if needed.

I would have liked to run the glass rear window in my 69 but with the roll bar it's not a great option since it lays against the rear bars when it's down. The zipped one would be my second choice since it would be nice to be able to remove it. But that said, the fixed plastic one in my car is in good shape so it's gonna stay until or unless I have to replace it at some point.

I'm pretty confident I understand the glass window would be very rigid when it folds down and I'm sure it tapers to the contour of the rear, my real question is the difference between the Fixed Plastic vs the Plastic Zippered?

Is it as simple as the zippered window is removable and the fixed is not? Is the plastic the same?

Thanks,

Yes, that is correct, same plastic. The zippered one can be removed, to clean, etc... which is a nice option. It is not easy for me to clean the inside of the rear window on my car.

Thanks so much! On a separate note I was looking at the rims you have on the front of your 69 and was wondering what they were specifically? I've got some on mine that look pretty close and was just curious.

Thanks,

Thanks,
They are Weld Pro Stars. Cragar also makes a similar wheel.

Yeah, it's in the middle of a restoration right now but I've got a couple low quality pictures from before it was started about 6 years ago. It sat in a barn for about 27 years and the pictures were taken before it was touched, during, and then where it is now

I'll post more pictures on my profile when I get the chance.

Thanks

Looking good. Are you keeping the same color scheme? Here's what mine looked like when I brought it home almost 18 years ago. It looks much better in the picture than it really was. It's come a long way..

Yeah, other than the rims, I'm restoring it to as close to factory as possible. Which includes as many original, or GM licensed reproduction parts as possible. It's a 327 2bbl carb with AT so it was never meant to be a street racer or fast car.
What it is good at though is being a great cruiser vehicle. If it were an SS or Z28 I might think about putting performance parts in it, but I don't believe in molesting every old vehicle to be modern and performance based. I like the originality of what they were able to accomplish and the legacy of it all.
